Odette Hallowes
Odette Sansom (28 April 1912 – 13 March 1995), also known as Odette Churchill and Odette Hallowes, code named Lise, was an agent for the United Kingdom's clandestine Special Operations Executive (SOE) in France during the Second World War. She was the first woman to be awarded the George Cross by the United Kingdom and was awarded the Légion d'honneur by France. The purpose of SOE was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in occupied Europe against the Axis powers, especially Germany. SOE agents allied themselves with resistance groups and supplied them with weapons and equipment parachuted in from England. Sansom arrived in France on 2 November 1942 and worked as a courier with the Spindle network (or circuit) of SOE headed by Peter Churchill (whom she later married). The Odette File Transfer Protocol (OFTP) is a protocol created in 1986, used for EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) between two communications business partners. Its name comes from the Odette Organisation (the Organization for data exchange by teletransmission in Europe). The ODETTE File Transfer Protocol (ODETTE-FTP) was defined in 1986 by working group four of the Organisation for Data Exchange by Tele-Transmission in Europe (ODETTE) to address the electronic data interchange (EDI) requirements of the European automotive industry. It was designed in the spirit of the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model utilising the Network Service provided by the CCITT X.25 recommendation. Founded in 2015 by chef Julien Royer in collaboration with the local Lo & Behold Group, Odette features a fusion of French cuisine with Asian influences, including of Singapore's. Yvonne Jeanne de Vibraye Baseden MBE (20 January 1922 – 28 October 2017), later known as Yvonne Burney, was one of approximately forty female Special Operations Executive (SOE) agents who served in France. Edmond George Odette
Edmond George Odette (22 May 1884 – 31 March 1939) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Windsor, Ontario and became an industrialist. Odette attended public school in Windsor, then Assomption College at nearby Sandwich. He became president of manufacturing firm Canadian Top and Body Corporation of Tilbury, Ontario. He was also vice-president of Golf Ball Corporation of Canada, vice-president of Canadian Deepwaterways and Power Association and a director of Northward Mines Ltd. From 1920 to 1923, Odette was mayor of Tilbury, Ontario and in 1924 was the community's reeve. He unsuccessfully attempted to win the Essex East riding in the 1925 federal election. In the 1926 general election, Odette defeated Conservative incumbent Raymond Ducharme Morand. After serving his only term in the House of Commons, Morand defeated Odette in the 1930 election. Victorien Sardou ( , ; 5 September 18318 November 1908) was a French dramatist. He is best remembered today for his development, along with Eugène Scribe, of the well-made play.
