Objectory AB
Objectory Systems was a software company based in Sweden that was instrumental in the development of Object-oriented program design. Founded in 1987 by Ivar Jacobson, the company developed Objectory, an object-oriented development method which was an extension of what is known as the '' Ericsson Approach'', a modeling language developed at Ericsson. This language featured state charts with activity diagrams, as well as sequence diagrams. In 1991, Ericsson purchased a substantial amount of the stake in Objectory Systems. As a result, Objectory Systems became known as Objectory AB — a subsidiary of Ericsson. In 1995, Rational Software Corporation acquired the subsidiary. Ivar Jacobson
Ivar Hjalmar Jacobson (born 1939) is a Swedish computer scientist and software engineer, known as major contributor to UML, Objectory, Rational Unified Process (RUP), aspect-oriented software development and Essence. Biography Ivar Jacobson was born in Ystad, Sweden on September 2, 1939. He received his Master of Electrical Engineering degree at Chalmers Institute of Technology in Gothenburg in 1962. After his work at Ericsson, he formalized the language and method he had been working on in his PhD at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 1985 on the thesis Language Constructs for Large Real Time Systems. After his master's degree, Jacobson joined Ericsson and worked in R&D on computerized switching systems AKE and AXE including PLEX. After his PhD thesis in April 1987, he started Objective Systems with Ericsson as a major customer. A majority stake of the company was acquired by Ericsson in 1991, and the company was renamed Objectory AB. Jacobson develop ...

Objectory
Objectory is an object-oriented methodology mostly created by Ivar Jacobson, who has greatly contributed to object-oriented software engineering Object-oriented programming (OOP) is a programming paradigm based on the concept of " objects", which can contain data and code. The data is in the form of fields (often known as attributes or ''properties''), and the code is in the form of .... The framework of objectory is a design technique called design with building blocks. With the building block technique, a system is viewed as a system of connecting blocks with each block representing a system service. It is considered to be the first commercially available object-oriented methodology for developing large-scale industrial systems. This approach gives a global view of the software development and focuses on cost efficiency. Its main techniques are: conceptual modelling, Object-oriented programming, and a block design technique. Software Company
A software company is a company whose primary products are various forms of software, software technology, distribution, and software product development. They make up the software industry. Types There are a number of different types of software companies: *There are companies selling available to use commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, such as Microsoft's Outlook, Word and Excel, Adobe Systems's Acrobat, Illustrator and other designing tools, or Google apps like Chrome. *Many companies provide Software Development services, and have a structure to develop custom software for other companies and businesses. *Companies producing specialized commercial off-the-shelf software, such as Panorama, Hyperion, and Siebel Systems *Companies providing Software as a Service ( SaaS), such as Google's email service Gmail, Voice and Maps, and companies like Salesforce and Zendesk. *Technology that mobilizes social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter and Parler. * ...

Object-oriented
Object-oriented programming (OOP) is a programming paradigm based on the concept of " objects", which can contain data and code. The data is in the form of fields (often known as attributes or ''properties''), and the code is in the form of procedures (often known as '' methods''). A common feature of objects is that procedures (or methods) are attached to them and can access and modify the object's data fields. In this brand of OOP, there is usually a special name such as or used to refer to the current object. In OOP, computer programs are designed by making them out of objects that interact with one another. OOP languages are diverse, but the most popular ones are class-based, meaning that objects are instances of classes, which also determine their types. Many of the most widely used programming languages (such as C++, Java, Python, etc.) are multi-paradigm and they support object-oriented programming to a greater or lesser degree, typically in combination with ...

Modeling Language
A modeling language is any artificial language that can be used to express information or knowledge or systems in a structure that is defined by a consistent set of rules. The rules are used for interpretation of the meaning of components in the structure. Overview A modeling language can be graphical or textual. * ''Graphical'' modeling languages use a diagram technique with named symbols that represent concepts and lines that connect the symbols and represent relationships and various other graphical notation to represent constraints. * ''Textual'' modeling languages may use standardized keywords accompanied by parameters or natural language terms and phrases to make computer-interpretable expressions. An example of a graphical modeling language and a corresponding textual modeling language is EXPRESS. Not all modeling languages are executable, and for those that are, the use of them doesn't necessarily mean that programmers are no longer required. On the contrary, execut ...

Sequence Diagram
A sequence diagram or system sequence diagram (SSD) shows process interactions arranged in time sequence in the field of software engineering. It depicts the processes involved and the sequence of messages exchanged between the processes needed to carry out the functionality. Sequence diagrams are typically associated with use case realizations in the 4+1 architectural view model of the system under development. Sequence diagrams are sometimes called event diagrams or event scenarios. For a particular scenario of a use case, the diagrams show the events that external actors generate, their order, and possible inter-system events. All systems are treated as a black box; the diagram places emphasis on events that cross the system boundary from actors to systems. A system sequence diagram should be done for the main success scenario of the use case, and frequent or complex alternative scenarios. Key elements of sequence diagram A sequence diagram shows, as parallel vertical lines ...

Rational Unified Process
The Rational Unified Process (RUP) is an iterative software development process framework created by the Rational Software Corporation, a division of IBM since 2003. RUP is not a single concrete prescriptive process, but rather an adaptable process framework, intended to be tailored by the development organizations and software project teams that will select the elements of the process that are appropriate for their needs. RUP is a specific implementation of the Unified Process. History Rational Software originally developed the rational unified process as a software process product. The product includes a hyperlinked knowledge-base with sample artifacts and detailed descriptions for many different types of activities. RUP is included in the IBM Rational Method Composer (RMC) product which allows customization of the process. Philippe Kruchten, an experienced Rational technical representative was tasked with heading up the original RUP team. These initial versions combi ...
