Malathion is an organophosphate insecticide which acts as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. In the USSR, it was known as carbophos, in New Zealand and Australia as maldison and in South Africa as mercaptothion. Pesticide use Malathion is a pesticide that is widely used in agriculture, residential landscaping, public recreation areas, and in public health pest control programs such as mosquito eradication. In the US, it is the most commonly used organophosphate insecticide. A malathion mixture with corn syrup was used in the 1980s in Australia and California to combat the Mediterranean fruit fly. ''La Bande à Ovide'', a.k.a. ''Ovide and the Gang'', is a 1980s animated TV show produced by the Canadian animation studio CinéGroupe (who also produced Mega Babies, Sharky and George and The Little Flying Bears) in association with Belgium's Odec Kid Cartoons. It ran on Télévision de Radio Canada starting October 17, 1987, to 1989 and also goes by the names "Ovide Video" and "Ovide's Video Show"; the series gained popularity in the United Kingdom when it was broadcast on the Children's BBC service in 1988 and 1989 in a Friday afternoon slot before switching to Channel 4. Ovide Alakannuark
Ovide Alakannuark (December 25, 1938 – October 7, 2019) was a Canadian territorial level politician from Pelly Bay, Northwest Territories (now Kugaaruk, Nunavut). He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut from 1999 until 2004. Alakannuark was elected in the 1999 Nunavut general election. He defeated candidate Steve Mapsalak by just 25 votes to win the Akulliq electoral district. He only served a single term in the Legislature deciding not to run for re-election when it was dissolved in 2004. He attempted a return to politics running in rerun for the Akulliq district finishing a distant third on March 2, 2009. Ovide Le Blanc
Ovide Le Blanc (1801–1870) was a notary and political figure in Quebec. He represented Beauharnois in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1851 to 1854. He was born in Champlain, Quebec, the son of Étienne Le Blanc and Josette Richerville, and grew up in Trois-Rivières. Le Blanc apprenticed as a notary at Quebec City and received his commission to practice in 1822. He practised in Trois-Rivières, Beauharnois, Montreal and Portage-du-Fort. He served as lieutenant in the militia. Le Blanc was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the legislative assembly in 1844. He was unsuccessful when he ran for reelection in 1854. Ovide Marc Lamontagne (born 1957) is an American businessman who serves as a shareholder at Bernstein Shur law firm in Manchester, New Hampshire. Lamontagne is a lawyer and a Republican former political candidate who was his party's nominee for Governor of New Hampshire in 1996 and 2012. He also unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for the US Senate in 2010. Lamontagne, who is of French-Canadian descent, was born and raised in Manchester. He graduated from Manchester's Trinity High School in 1975 before he took his undergraduate degree at the Catholic University of America in 1979. Ovide William Mercredi (born January 30, 1946) is a Canadian politician. He is Cree and a former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations. He is also the former president of the Manitoba New Democratic Party. Early life and career A Cree, Ovide Mercredi lived outside the reservation because his mother was stripped of her Indian status when she married a Métis (a person of mixed indigenous and European descent7 Mercredi attended the University of Manitoba and graduated with a degree in law in 1977. Ovide De Montigny
Ovide de Montigny was a French-Canadian fur trapper active in the Pacific Northwest from 1811 to 1822. Pacific Fur Company de Montigny was hired by Alexander MacKay at Montreal in July 1810. McKay and Wilson Price Hunt were in the city recruiting men experienced in the fur trade for the Pacific Fur Company (PFC). This recently established fur trading venture was funded largely by German-American merchant John Jacob Astor. The PFC had a notably diverse workforce. The majority were British subjects of several different cultural backgrounds. The other company partners were either Scottish or American. French-Canadians typically served as voyageurs and trappers, with a number of Iroquois working in these vital roles as well. Joseph-Ovide Turgeon
Joseph-Ovide Turgeon (1797 – November 9, 1856) was a Quebec official and political figure. He was born at Terrebonne in 1797, a cousin of Louis Turgeon, and studied at the Petit Séminaire de Montréal. He travelled in the United States before settling again at Terrebonne. He was named commissioner in charge of extending the Effingham road to Killkenny in 1830. Turgeon was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Effingham in 1824 as a member of the parti canadien and was reelected in 1827. In 1830, he was elected again, this time in Terrebonne. Turgeon voted in support of the Ninety-Two Resolutions. He was appointed to the Legislative Council of the Province of Canada in 1848 and died at Terrebonne while still in office in 1856.
