Ousanas
Ousanas (fl. 320) was a King of Kingdom of Aksum, Axum. S. C. Munro-Hay believes that it is "very likely" that Ousanas is the king to whom Aedesius and Saint Frumentius, Frumentius were brought. In Ethiopian tradition, this king is called Ella Allada or Ella Amida. ''Ella Amida'' would then be his throne name, although ''Ousanas'' is the name that appears on his coins. If this identification is correct, then it was during his reign that Christianity in Ethiopia, Christianity was introduced to Axum and the surrounding territories. Ousanas may have had a "relatively long reign" and campaigned in Nubia. It is also possible that he was briefly ousted by Wazeba, a usurper. W.R.O. Hahn, in a study published in 1983, identifies Sembrouthes, who is known only from an inscription found in Daqqi Mahari in modern Eritrea, with Ousanas. Wazeba
Wazeba (early 4th century), vocalized by historians as Wazeba, or WZB was a Negus of the Kingdom of Aksum, centered in the highlands of modern Ethiopian Highlands, Ethiopia and Eritrean Highlands, Eritrea. He succeeded Aphilas. Wazeba is known only from the Aksumite currency, coins that he minted during his reign. He was the first Aksumite ruler to engrave the legends of his coins in Ge'ez language, Ge'ez, and the only King of Aksum to use that language on his gold currency. S. C. Munro-Hay suggests that the scarcity of Wazeba's coins may hint at a short reign. There is one coin issue that combines a die from Wazeba on the obverse and a die from Ousanas on the reverse. S.C. Ezana Of Axum
Ezana ( gez, ዔዛና ''‘Ezana'', unvocalized ዐዘነ ''‘zn''; also spelled Aezana or Aizan) was ruler of the Kingdom of Axum, an ancient kingdom located in what is now Eritrea and Ethiopia. (320s – c. 360 AD). He himself employed the style (official title) "king of Saba and Salhen, Himyar and Dhu-Raydan". Tradition states that ‘Ezana succeeded his father Ella Amida (Ousanas) as king while still a child but his mother, Sofya then served as regent until he came of age. He conquered the Kingdom of Kush around the year 350 AD. Reign Ezana was the first monarch of the Kingdom of Aksum to embrace Christianity, after he was converted by his slave-teacher, Frumentius. Aksumite Currency
Aksumite currency was coinage produced and used within the Kingdom of Aksum (or Axum) centered in present-day Eritrea and Ethiopia. Its mintages were issued and circulated from the reign of King Endubis around AD 270 until it began its decline in the first half of the 7th century. During the succeeding medieval period, Mogadishu currency, minted by the Sultanate of Mogadishu, was the most widely circulated currency in the Horn of Africa. Aksum's currency served as a vessel of propaganda demonstrating the kingdom's wealth and promoting the national religion (first polytheistic and later Oriental Christianity). Sofya Of Axum
Sofya (4th-century), was a queen consort and regent of the Kingdom of Axum. She was married to king Ella Amida (Ousanas). She was widowed in c. 330, and her son, Ezana of Axum, succeeded her dead husband as king. As her son was still a child upon his succession, she ruled as regent during his minority. The official chronicle of the Ethiopian monarchy from 1922 lists Sofya as a reigning monarch in her own right named "Ahywa Sofya", who ruled by herself from 299 to 306 (c. 306–313 on the Gregorian calendar). Archeological evidence for a sole reign of Soyfa is lacking however. This king list claims she was the mother of Abreha and Atsbeha, who are credited with introducing Christianity to Ethiopia. Sembrouthes
Sembrouthes was a King of the Kingdom of Aksum. He is known only from a single inscription in Ancient Greek that was found at Dekemhare (ደቀምሓረ ድንበዛን), Hamasien in modern-day Eritrea, which is dated to his 24th regnal year. Sembrouthes was the first known ruler in the lands later ruled by the Emperor of Ethiopia to adopt the title "King of Kings". S. C. Munro-Hay places his reign in a gap between `DBH and DTWNS, or c.250. However, W.R.O. Hahn, in a study published in 1983, assigns Sembrouthes to the 4th century, between Aphilas and Ezana. He also identifies him with Ousanas or the legendary Ella Amida. Munro-Hay also suggests that Sembrouthes may have been the ruler who erected the anonymous ''Monumentum Adulitanum''. Christianity in Ethiopia is the largest religion in the country, as 63% of the country, Islam follows behind. Christinaity in Ethiopia dates back to the early medieval Kingdom of Aksum, when the King Ezana first adopted the faith in 4th century AD. This makes Ethiopia one of the first regions in the world to officially adopt Christianity. Various Christian denominations are now followed in the country. Aedesius
Aedesius ( grc-gre, Αἰδέσιος, died 355 AD) was a Neoplatonist philosopher and mystic born of a noble Cappadocian family. Career Aedesius was born into a wealthy Cappadocian family, but he moved to Syria, where he was apprenticed to Iamblichos. He quickly became his best pupil and the two became friends. Aedesius's own philosophical doctrine, however, was somewhere between Platonism and eclecticism and, according to Eunapius, he differed from Iamblichus on certain points connected with theurgy and magic.
