Our Homecoming
Our Homecoming (also referred to as Homecoming or Homecoming Festival), is an annual three-days music, fashion, sport, and arts festival in Lagos, Nigeria. It has been founded by Grace Ladoja, as a community under Metallic Inc. The platform was established for cultural exchange, sharing African creativity with the world as a way of connecting international creatives from Africa in the diaspora back to the motherland (Nigeria "Africa"). The festival provides a venue for workshops, football pitch, art museum, live bands, DJs, and musicians. The festival is yearly supported by The NATIVE, Vivendii, Off-White, Browns, Patta, Ambush, Stüssy, and Nike. In 2019, UBA Group partnered with Homecoming to celebrate its Easter Festival in Lagos. The Homecoming matches kicks-off annually at Astro2000 Ikoyi, and the Cup was won by The Native team in 2018 and 2019, and International Girl Crew team won the 2020 cup. Afrobeats
Afrobeats (not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing), or Afro-pop or Afro-fusion (or Afropop or Afrofusion), is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the 'Afrobeats' umbrella. Afrobeats is primarily produced in Lagos, Accra, and London. Historian and cultural critic Paul Gilroy reflects on the changing London music scene as a result of shifting demographics: We are moving towards an African majority which is diverse both in its cultural habits and in its relationship to colonial and postcolonial governance, so the shift away from Caribbean dominance needs to be placed in that setting. Skepta
Chief Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr. (born 19 September 1982), known professionally as Skepta, is a British-Nigerian grime MC, rapper and record producer. Alongside his younger brother Jme, he briefly joined Roll Deep before they became founding members of Boy Better Know in 2005. With Boy Better Know, Skepta clashed with fellow MC Devilman for the video release ''Lord of the Mics 2'', in what is remembered as one of the biggest clashes in grime history. Olamide Gbenga Adedeji (born 15 March 1989) is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive. Widely regarded as one of the biggest and most influential artists in Africa, he has been instrumental to the launching of the careers of several Afrobeats music stars. He records in Yoruba and English. In 2011, he released his debut studio album '' Rapsodi'' while signed to Coded Tunes. Obinna Levi Ajuonuma (born 29 April 1985), professionally known as DJ Obi, is a Nigerian disc jockey and Syndik8 Record's official DJ. He won Best World DJ at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was nominated for 2016 The Future Awards Africa Prize for Creative Professional. Early Ajuonuma is from Ideato South, Imo State. Mowalola Ogunlesi
Mowalola Ogunlesi (born March 25, 1995) is a Nigerian-born fashion designer and singer working and living in London. She is known for working with a wide variety of textiles such as leather and PVC to produce non-traditional silhouettes inspired by Nigerian and London youth culture. Early life Ogunlesi was born to two Nigerian fashion designers, her mother, Adenike Ogunlesi of Ruff 'n' Tumble specializing in children's clothing and her father working in traditional Nigerian menswear. Zainab Elizabeth Donli, known as Lady Donli, is a Nigerian musician. She is an alternative R&B, hip hop, alternative jazz and Afrobeat singer and songwriter.
