Ou Wei
Ou Wei (; 16 September 1937 – December 1973) was a Taiwanese actor. Ou Wei was born Huang Huang-chi () in present-day Xinhua District, Tainan, on 16 September 1937. His father, a billboard painter, died when Huang was five years old. His formal education ended after middle school. Huang worked for the police before leaving to pursue acting. He found that theatre did not suit him, and as such he joined director's Ho Chi-ming's film studio. Huang made his Hokkien film debut in 1957, and took his stage name, Ou Wei, from the character he portrayed in ''Green Mountain Bloodshed'', a historical drama about the rebellion of a tribe of Taiwanese aborigines against Japanese rule. While Ou Wei served in the Republic of China Air Force from 1958 to 1961, Ho Chi-ming had closed his film studio in 1959. Ou Wei then became a freelance actor and worked with Ho Chi-ming's brother Ho Lin-ming, among others. In his return to acting, Ou Wei appeared in several Mandarin films. During the 1960s, he ... Xinhua District, Tainan
Sinhua District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (), alternatively spelled Xinhua, is a suburban district in central Tainan, Taiwan. History Before the Dutch and Han Chinese invaded, this region was home to a community of Taiwanese aborigines, the Siraya. In 1624, the VOC occupied Tayuan (modern day Anping, Tainan). In the past, the Siraya indigenous tribe called this place Tavocan ("land of hill and forest"). ''Tavakan'' was a village of about a thousand people; the name was also written ''Taffacan'', ''Tavocan'', ''Tavacang'', and ''Davocan'' in Dutch records. The village grew into the market-town of ''Twa-bak-kang'' (), about southeast of ''Sin-kang'' (modern-day Sinshih). After 1627, the VOC sent missionaries into neighboring districts. In 1635, George Candidius, a Dutch pastor, advised Pieter Nuyts, the leader of the Dutch VOC in Taiwan, that the VOC would have to conquer the aborigines before they could be controlled. In 1636, eighteen tribal ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Republic Of China Air Force
The Republic of China Air Force, retroactively known by its historical name the Chinese Air Force and unofficially referred to as the Taiwanese Air Force, is the military aviation branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces, currently based in Taiwan. The ROCAF was founded in 1920 by the Kuomintang. While its historical name is sometimes used especially in domestic circles, it is not used as often internationally due to the current ambiguous political status of Taiwan and to avoid confusion with the People's Liberation Army Air Force of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Its primary mission is the defense of the airspace over and around the Taiwan area. Priorities of the ROCAF include the development of long range reconnaissance and surveillance networks, integrating C4ISTAR systems to increase battle effectiveness, procuring counterstrike weapons, next generation fighters, and hardening airfields and other facilities to survive a surprise attack.
