Otto Frello
Otto Frello (6 April 1924 in Ovtrup, near Varde – 24 March 2015) was a Danish painter, graphic artist, cartoonist and illustrator. Otto Frello received the 2004 Eurocon Award as the Best Artist. A square in Varde, near the former St.Jacobi school and church St.Jacobi, is named after him. Personal life Frello purchased the property at Brolæggerstræde 2 in Copenhagen in 1966 and lived there with his family until his death. Eurocon
Eurocon is an annual science fiction convention held in Europe. The organising committee of each Eurocon is selected by vote of the participants of the previous event. The procedure is coordinated by the European Science Fiction Society. The first Eurocon was held in Trieste, Italy, in 1972. Varde
Varde is a Danish city in southwestern Jutland and is the primary city in the municipality of Varde, in Region of Southern Denmark. In 2015 municipality changed its motto to "We in nature" to emphasize its rural atmosphere. The town has an old market environment and is located by Varde stream/river and is a short distance away from the beaches by the North Sea. These features make it a tourist destination. The age of Varde is not known precisely, but it is mentioned in written sources from 1107 A.D. and is therefore thought have been founded sometime in the early Middle Ages. Brolæggerstræde 2
Brolæggerstræde 2 is a 4-storey apartment building situated at the corner of Brolæggerstræde and Badstuestræde in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The building was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1950. Otto Frello, who owned it from 1966 until his death, has painted a '' trompe-l'œil'' mural of a door on the first floor. History 18th century The site was in the late 17th century made up of two separate properties. One of them was listed in Copenhagen's first cadastre of 1689 as No. 115 in Snaren's Quarter and belonged to turner Johan Trimand. The other one was listed as No. 116 and belonged to turner Christen Treiner. The two properties were both destroyed in the Copenhagen Fire of 1728, together with most of the other buildings in the area. The fire sites were subsequently divided into three properties.
