Ottawa Fury Football Club was a Canadian professional soccer club based in Ottawa, Ontario. The club competed in the North American Soccer League and USL Championship and played its home games at TD Place Stadium. The Ottawa Fury FC were dissolved as a soccer club on November 8, 2019 and their USL franchise rights were sold to Miami FC on December 11, 2019. An unrelated club, Atlético Ottawa, were formed in 2020 to enter the Canadian Premier League representing the city, with home games again at TD Place Stadium. History Formative years On June 20, 2011, the North American Soccer League announced that Ottawa had been awarded an expansion franchise. TD Place Stadium (originally Lansdowne Park and formerly Frank Clair Stadium) is an outdoor stadium in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at Lansdowne Park, on the southern edge of The Glebe neighbourhood, where Bank Street (Ottawa), Bank Street crosses the Rideau Canal. Nikola Popović (born 28 October 1973) is a Portuguese/Serbian football coach. Popović is known for a very attacking and attractive style of play based on possession and high pressure. FC Montreal was a Canadian professional soccer team based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada that played in the USL Championship, the third tier of the United States soccer league system. The team served as a reserve team of Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Montreal Impact. The 2016 Ottawa Fury FC season was the club's third season at the professional level, and its last in the North American Soccer League before its subsequent move to the United Soccer League. Off-season Staff On 20 November 2015, Paul Dalglish was announced as the club's new head coach, replacing Marc Dos Santos who had moved on to a head coaching position with Swope Park Rangers and an assistant coaching position with Sporting Kansas City. On 2 December 2015, the Fury announced that assistant coach Martin Nash and goalkeeping coach Bruce Grobbelaar had been re-signed for the 2016 season. Paul Kenneth Dalglish (born 18 February 1977) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Playing career Dalglish, son of former Scotland international Kenny Dalglish, was born in Glasgow though spent his childhood in the city where his father managed Liverpool. As a child, he was the team mascot for Liverpool in their famous 1989 league title decider against Arsenal at Anfield. He started his career as a youth player with Celtic before joining Liverpool, but made no appearances for either of his father's former clubs. Dalglish was then signed by his father for Newcastle United, he made 14 appearances, scoring two goals against Tranmere Rovers in the League Cup and Sheffield Wednesday in the league.
