Otisstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)
Otisstraße is a Berlin U-Bahn List of Berlin U-Bahn stations, station located on the line. The station is close to the street Otisstraße, hence the name. It was renamed in 2004 to celebrate the 150th year of operations of the local Otis Elevator Company and to correct a long-standing anomaly: this U6 (Berlin), U6 line station was originally named ''Seidelstraße'', even though its entrance was closer to Otisstraße. It was constructed in 1958 by the architect B. Grimmek. In the beginning "Flugplatz Tegel" (''Tegel Aerodrome'') was appended to the station's name. This was changed to "Flughafen Tegel" (''Berlin Tegel Airport, Tegel Airport'') in 1961. This addition was deleted in 1974.J. Otis Elevator Company
Otis Worldwide Corporation (trade name, branded as the Otis Elevator Company, its former legal name) is an American company that develops, manufactures and markets elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and related equipment. Based in Farmington, Connecticut, U.S, Otis is the world's largest manufacturer of vertical transportation systems, principally focusing on elevators, moving walkways, and escalators. The company pioneered the development of the "safety elevator", invented by Elisha Otis in 1852, which used a special mechanism to lock the elevator car in place should the hoisting ropes fail. The Otis Elevator Company was acquired by United Technologies in 1976, but it was spun off as an independent company 44 years later in April 2020 as Otis Worldwide Corporation. Its slogan is "Made to move you". History The booming elevator market In 1852, Elisha Otis invented the safety elevator, which automatically comes to a halt if the hoisting rope breaks. U6 (Berlin)
U6 is a Berlin U-Bahn line, long line with 29 stations. It runs in a north-south direction from the Berlin locality of Tegel in the north via Friedrichstraße to Mariendorf, a locality in the southern part of the city. It is a so-called large profile ("Großprofil") line. During the Cold War, both U6 termini were in the former West Berlin but the line passed under East Berlin for a short section of its route. Five of its stations were sealed off by East German authorities and the trains went through these so-called “ghost stations” without stopping, while a sixth, Friedrichstraße, remained open primarily as a transfer station between the U6 and the S-Bahn lines using the north-south S-Bahn tunnel, but also as an official border crossing between East and West Berlin. It was formerly named "CI" from 1923 to 1928. Current routing U6 begins its journey from its northern terminus in central Tegel, first running in a southeasterly direction underground along the path of Berl ...

Berlin Tegel Airport
Berlin Tegel "Otto Lilienthal" Airport (german: link=no, Flughafen Berlin-Tegel „Otto Lilienthal“) was the primary international airport of Berlin, the federal capital of Germany. The airport was named after aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal and was the fourth busiest airport in Germany, with over 24 million passengers in 2019. In 2016, Tegel handled over 60% of all airline passenger traffic in Berlin. The airport served as a base for Eurowings, Ryanair as well as easyJet. It featured flights to several European metropolitan and leisure destinations as well as some intercontinental routes. It was situated in Tegel, a section of the northern borough of Reinickendorf, northwest of the city centre of Berlin. Tegel Airport was notable for its hexagonal main terminal building around an open square, which made walking distances as short as from the aircraft to the terminal exit. TXL saw its last flight on 8 November 2020 after all traffic had been transferred gradually to th ...

Railway Stations In Germany Opened In 1958
Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. In contrast to road transport, where the vehicles run on a prepared flat surface, rail vehicles (rolling stock) are directionally guided by the tracks on which they run. Tracks usually consist of steel rails, installed on sleepers (ties) set in ballast, on which the rolling stock, usually fitted with metal wheels, moves. Other variations are also possible, such as "slab track", in which the rails are fastened to a concrete foundation resting on a prepared subsurface. Rolling stock in a rail transport system generally encounters lower frictional resistance than rubber-tyred road vehicles, so passenger and freight cars (carriages and wagons) can be coupled into longer trains. The operation is carried out by a railway company, providing transport between train stations or freight customer facili ...
