Other People (film)
''Other People'' is a 2016 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Chris Kelly in his feature directorial debut. The film stars Jesse Plemons, Molly Shannon, Bradley Whitford, Maude Apatow, Madisen Beaty, John Early, Zach Woods, Josie Totah, and June Squibb. It is a semi-autobiographical look at Kelly's family. The film had its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2016. The film was released on September 9, 2016, by Vertical Entertainment. Plot David Mulcahey (Jesse Plemons), a struggling comedy writer, goes home to Sacramento to take care of his mother Joanne (Molly Shannon), diagnosed with rare leiomyosarcoma. Chris Kelly (writer)
Christopher Kelly (born September 7, 1983) is an American comedian, writer, and director known for his work on ''Saturday Night Live'', and writing and directing the autobiographical film '' Other People'' that premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. He has received five Emmy Award nominations for his work on ''SNL''. Career Early career Kelly grew up in Sacramento, California, the son of Joanne ''née'' Kellogg (1960–2009) Kelly. He has a sister, Janelle, and a half sister, Katie, from his mother's remarriage. He attended and graduated from Sheldon High School. He attended college at UC Irvine. Paul Dooley (born Paul Brown; February 22, 1928) is an American character actor, writer and comedian. He is known for his roles in ''Breaking Away'', ''Sixteen Candles'', and ''Popeye''. Early life Dooley was born Paul Brown on February 22, 1928, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of Ruth Irene (née Barringer), a homemaker, and Pete James Brown, a factory worker. A spec script, also known as a speculative screenplay, is a non-commissioned and unsolicited screenplay. It is usually written by a screenwriter who hopes to have the script optioned and eventually purchased by a producer, production company, or studio.
