Otaku USA
''Otaku USA'' is a bimonthly magazine published by Sovereign Media, which covers various elements of the "otaku" lifestyle (such as anime, manga, video games, cosplay and Japanese popular music) from an American perspective. The issues were accompanied by a DVD featuring three anime episodes but as of 2009 the DVD feature was dropped and the double sided poster feature of the Magazine was also dropped starting with the February 2010 issue. ''Otaku USA'' began publication in August 2007. The editor-in-chief of the magazine is Patrick Macias. After the shutdown of ''Newtype USA'' in February 2008, ''Anime Insider'' in March 2009, '' Shonen Jump'' in April 2012, and the discontinuation of ''Protoculture Addicts'' since August 2008, ''Otaku USA'' is the only remaining anime news magazine published for the North American market. Patrick Macias
Patrick Macias (born 1972 in Sacramento, California) is an American author and co-author of several titles on pop culture fandom, specifically relating to Japanese culture and culture in America. Macias is also a correspondent for NHK World Television show ''Tokyo Eye'', and is the editor-in-chief of the culture magazine ''Otaku USA'', which debuted on June 5, 2007. In 2014, Patrick became the Senior Manager of New Initiatives at Crunchyroll. Biography Macias became a published writer when he was 19, writing about youth culture for zines and other publications. Alvin Lu, a former editor of the ''San Francisco Bay Guardian'', asked Macias to write for the ''Guardian'' based on Macias's early work, and this led to a regular column titled "Tiger on Beat" in which Macias covered Hong Kong movies. Dark Horse Comics is an American comic book, graphic novel, and manga publisher founded in Milwaukie, Oregon by Mike Richardson in 1986. The Kindle Store is an Internet, online e-book e-commerce store operated by Amazon (company), Amazon as part of its retail website and can be accessed from any Amazon Kindle, Fire HD, Fire tablet or Kindle mobile app. At the launch of the Kindle in November 2007, the store had more than 88,000 digital titles available in the U.S. store. This number increased to more than 275,000 by late 2008, and exceeded 765,000 by August 2011. In July 2014, there were over 2.7 million titles available. The iPad is a brand of iOS and iPadOS-based tablet computers that are developed by Apple Inc. The iPad was conceived before the related iPhone but the iPhone was developed and released first. The iPad range consists of the original iPad lineup and the flagship products iPad Mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro.
