Ostler Peak
Ostler Peak is a mountain summit located in Summit County, Utah, United States. Description Ostler Peak is set within the High Uintas Wilderness on land managed by Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. It is situated along the crest of the Uinta Mountains which are a subset of the Rocky Mountains, and it ranks as the 37th-highest summit in Utah. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises over above Amethyst Lake in one-half mile. Neighbors include Spread Eagle Peak 1.4 mile to the southwest, Hayden Peak four miles west, and line parent Lamotte Peak two miles north-northeast. Precipitation runoff from this mountain drains into the Ostler and Stillwater forks of the Bear River. High Uintas Wilderness
The High Uintas Wilderness is a wilderness area located in northeastern Utah, United States. The wilderness covers the Uinta Mountains, encompassing parts of Duchesne and Summit counties. Designated as a wilderness in 1984, the area is located within parts of Ashley National Forest and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, managed by the U.S. Forest Service. The highest peak in Utah, Kings Peak, lies within the wilderness area along with some of Utah's highest peaks, particularly those over . Mirror Lake Highway is closed in the winter, usually opening annually near Memorial Day. Line Parent
A peak's line parent is the closest higher peak on the highest ridge leading away from the peak's "key col". A col is the lowest point on the ridge between two summits and is roughly synonymous with pass, gap, saddle and notch. The highest col of a peak is its key col. If there is more than one ridge which can be followed to a higher peak then the line parent is the peak closest to the key col. Usually, a line parent must meet some prominence criteria, which might vary depending on the author and the location of the peak. There are at least two other kinds of peak parentage.
