Oscar Moreno (politician)
Oscar "Oca" Seriña Moreno (born February 28, 1951) is a Filipino politician and the former Mayor of Cagayan de Oro, Mayor of Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao, Philippines, the provincial capital of Misamis Oriental. He is a lawyer by profession and a former banker before he entered public service. Career Politics Moreno's first foray in public service was in 1995 when he ran for Representative of the First District of Misamis Oriental. He lost to the then-incumbent, the late Homobono Cezar. Three years later in 1998, however, Moreno defeated Cezar to sit as representative of the First District of Misamis Oriental. Congressman (1998–2004) During his congressional tenure, he authored and co-authored legislation on fiscal and financial reform, anti-money laundering, barangay micro-business enterprise. Northern Mindanao ( tl, Hilagang Mindanao; ceb, Amihanang Mindanao; Maranao: ''Pangotaraan Mindanao'') is an administrative region in the Philippines, designated as Region X. It comprises five provinces: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte, and two cities classified as ''highly urbanized'', all occupying the north-central part of Mindanao island, and the island-province of Camiguin. The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas () or the SBP is the national sport association for basketball in the Philippines, formed from the merging of the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) and Pilipinas Basketball (PB). It was formed in order to fix a long running feud in Philippine Basketball that resulted in FIBA suspending the country from participating in FIBA-sanctioned events. Both groups signed a joint communique during the FIBA Congress in Saitama, Japan in September 2006. Manuel V.
