Orma W. Wallengren
Orma W. Wallengren, also known as Claire Whitaker and Claire Whitaker Peterson, was the author of the screenplay of Latter-day Saint films ''Johnny Lingo'' and '' Man's Search for Happiness''. Under the name of Clair Whitaker she was a writer for several TV shows including '' The Waltons'' and ''Falcon Crest''. ''Johnny Lingo'' is a 1969 short film directed by Wetzel O. Whitaker. The film and later remake are based on a short story by Patricia McGerr, originally published in a 1965 issue of ''Woman's Day''. The 24-minute film was produced by Brigham Young University, but does not specifically mention The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) outside of the credits. Plot In the story, Johnny Lingo (played by MaKee K. Blaisdell) is a shrewd, honest, and well-liked Polynesian trader. Johnny has come home to bargain for a wife. ''Man's Search for Happiness'' is a 13-minute film produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It explains the role of the plan of salvation in Mormon theology, with questions like "Who am I?", "Where did I come from?", and "Where am I going?" being explored from a Mormon perspective. This film was produced by the BYU Motion Picture Studio for the Mormon Pavilion at the 1964 World's Fair in New York City, and was viewed by over five million people, many of whom were not LDS. Wetzel Whitaker
Wetzel Orson "Judge" Whitaker (September 30, 1908 – November 1, 1985) was a filmmaker and animator. He is most known for his early work as a Disney animator, particularly the animation of the stepsisters from Cinderella (1950 film), and his work as a director for BYU Motion Picture Studios. Most of the films he was involved in, such as ''The Windows of Heaven (film), The Windows of Heaven'', ''Johnny Lingo'' and ''Pioneers in Petticoats'', were made in cooperation with his brother Scott Whitaker. The two of them ran the BYU Motion Picture Studio during this time, receiving commission from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to make films.
