Orikkai is a village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu state, India. Orikkai was known in the Tamil language as ''Oru Iravu Irikkai'', meaning "overnight stay place", by Lord Vishnu along with two of his dedicated devotees, Thirumazhsai Alwar and Kanikannan. Kanchipuram ('; ) also known as ''Conjeevaram,'' is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu in the Tondaimandalam region, from Chennaithe capital of Tamil Nadu. Kanchipuram District
Kancheepuram district is one of the 38 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The area comprising the present day Kancheepuram district was earlier a part of Chingleput district. The original Chingleput district was split in 1997 into form the present day Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. On 18 July 2019, Chengalpattu district was carved out of Kanchipuram district, with suburbs from Chengalpet towards Chennai under the district headquarters in Chengalpet. The separation came into effect from 29 November which was done by Chief Minister Mr. Edappadi K Palaniswami. Geography Kancheepuram district is situated on the North Eastern part of Tamil Nadu. Cheyyar, officially Tiruvetipuram is a Town in the Tiruvannamalai District in the Tamil Nadu state of South India. The most common name of this town is Cheyyar but it is also referred to as Tiruvetipuram in many government records. Uthiramerur
Uthiramerur is a panchayat town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is situated 90 km south west of Chennai, the capital of Tamilnadu. It is noted for its temple inscriptions that describe a self-governance system existing around 7th to 9th century CE. History Uthiramerur originally existed as a Brahmin settlement. The Pallava king Nandivarman II (720–796 CE) formally established it as a brahamdeya village around 750 CE. It is believed that he donated the village to Vedic Brahmins from Srivaishanva community. Chengalpattu, previously known as Chingleput, is a city and the headquarters of Chengalpattu district of the state Tamil Nadu, India. The town is located near to the industrial and IT hub. Kanchipuram Railway Station
Kanchipuram railway station serves as the principal railway station of the temple city of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. The station is a part of the Chennai railway division of the Southern Railway zone, one of the eight zones of the Indian Railways and is coded as CJ for official purposes. The station code can be retraced to a time as early as the 1860s when a 3 ft 6in wide gauge line was laid between Arakkonam and Kanchipuram (then known as Conjeevaram – thus CJ) by Indian Tramway Company. Southbound services towards Chengalpattu were then inaugurated, much later in the 1880s, when the Chengalpattu–Walajabad section was commissioned, after which in 1891, Arakkonam–Chengalpattu and Chengalpattu–Arakkonam passenger services began, post conversion of the entire section to broad gauge.
