Ori Elon
Ori Elon ( he, אורי אלון; born 1981) is an Israeli writer and filmmaker. Early life Elon was born in kibbutz Shluhot, Israel, and had an Orthodox Jewish upbringing. He graduated from the Ma'aleh School of Television, Film and the Arts in Jerusalem. Career Elon is the co-creator and writer (with Yehonatan Indursky) of the television drama series ''Shtisel'' (in Hebrew שטיסל), initially broadcast on satellite television station Yes Oh, and later picked up by Netflix. He is also one of the writers of the drama series '' Srugim'' (in Hebrew ), and the 2018 miniseries ''Autonomies''. Kibbutz
A kibbutz ( he, קִבּוּץ / , lit. "gathering, clustering"; plural: kibbutzim / ) is an intentional community in Israel that was traditionally based on agriculture. The first kibbutz, established in 1909, was Degania. Today, farming has been partly supplanted by other economic branches, including industrial plants and high-tech enterprises. Kibbutzim began as utopian communities, a combination of socialism and Zionism. In recent decades, some kibbutzim have been privatized and changes have been made in the communal lifestyle. A member of a kibbutz is called a ''kibbutznik'' ( he, קִבּוּצְנִיק / ; plural ''kibbutznikim'' or ''kibbutzniks''). In 2010, there were 270 kibbutzim in Israel with population of 126,000. Shluhot ( he, שִׁלוּחוֹת, ''lit.'' Branches) is an Orthodox kibbutz in the Beit She'an Valley in northern Israel. Located about three kilometres south of the city of Beit She'an, it falls under the jurisdiction of Valley of Springs Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Shluhot was founded in 1948 by former members of the Bnei Akiva Zionist youth movement on the land that had belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of al-Ashrafiyya. Initially, a temporary joint camp was set up with a group from the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. Shortly thereafter, when each group received land to build separate kibbutzim, the secular members of the group formed the adjacent kibbutz of Reshafim.
