Arnie Roblan
Arnold L. "Arnie" Roblan (born April 8, 1948) is an American former educator and a Democratic politician who served as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from the 9th district, which spans the southern Oregon Coast. Joanne Verger
Joanne Verger (1930-2023) was an Oregon Democratic politician and the first female mayor of Coos Bay, the largest city on the Oregon Coast, serving four terms. She served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2001 to 2004, and was elected to the Oregon State Senate in 2004. She was reelected in 2008 with no major party opponent in either the primary or general election. In October 2011 Verger announced that she would not run for reelection to the Senate. She was co-owner of an automobile dealership, and has worked extensively in advertising and marketing. Jeannette Hamby (March 15, 1933 – January 27, 2012) was an American politician and nurse in Oregon. A native of Minnesota, she worked as an airline attendant, nurse, and educator before entering local politics. A Republican, she served in both chambers of the Oregon Legislature, winning re-election three times to the Oregon State Senate. Early life Hamby was born as Jeannette Carrie Anne Johnson in 1933 in Minnesota. She grew up in Virginia, Minnesota, a mining town in the Mesabi Iron Range. She was born to immigrants from Finland and only learned English after starting school. After high school she attended the University of Minnesota where she graduated in 1956 with a degree in nursing and public health education. Coos County ( ) is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 64,929. The county seat is Coquille. The county was formed from the western parts of Umpqua and Jackson counties. It is named after a tribe of Native Americans who live in the region. Oregon State Senate
The Oregon State Senate is the upper house of the statewide legislature for the US state of Oregon. Along with the lower chamber Oregon House of Representatives it makes up the Oregon Legislative Assembly. There are 30 members of the state Senate, representing 30 districts across the state, each with a population of 127,700. The state Senate meets in the east wing of the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Oregon state senators serve four-year terms without term limits. Douglas County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 111,201. The county seat is Roseburg. The county is named after Stephen A. Douglas, an American politician who supported Oregon statehood. Douglas County comprises the Roseburg, OR Micropolitan Statistical Area. History The area originally was inhabited by the Umpqua Indians, a grouping of natives who spoke a variety of Penutian and Athabaskan languages.
