Order Of Charlemagne
The Order of Charlemagne ( ca, Orde de Carlemany) is the only order and civil decoration issued by the Principality of Andorra. History The Order of Charlemagne was created 7 December 2007 by the Minister of Culture Juli Minoves Triquell with the purpose to "reward the merits of those who have excelled in their field of work and who have made outstanding services to the Andorran State". The name of the order was given to honour the figure of the founder of the Principality of Andorra, Emperor Charlemagne of the Franks, who granted sovereignty to the people of the "Valleys of Andorra" in gratitude for helping him fight the Saracens. Since then, Charlemagne has been a national symbol for the principality. The Principality of Andorra's honours system started developing very recently and it is still in development. History The Principality of Andorra started development of an honours system in 2007, through the Consolidation Decree 12-09-2007 and the implementation Ministerial Decree 07-12-2007, with the creation of the Order of Charlemagne amongst the Charlemagne Prizes. With the following years, the Andorran honours system was expanded in 2011 by the Inter-Parish Commission with the creation of the medals and awards for the City Guards of the country, adopted by Decree by all the Parishes. This system, with many mistakes committed during its application, was reformed by the Andorran phalerist Adrià Espineta Arias through a technical report that was implemented in 2015 and changed the protocol and designs of most of the awards. Sílvia Riva González (born 18 March 1979) is an Andorran politician and notary. With a law degree and a degree in Andorran law, she completed part of her studies in Barcelona. On her return to Andorra, she co-founded the youth section of the Liberal Party of Andorra (PLA). She ran for municipal elections in her hometown, but failed to win a seat as councilor by fifty-two votes. She decided to study political science.
