Orbit Chair
Orbit chairs are a type of recline chair designed by the Norwegian furniture designer in 1976 for A/S Sykkylven kurvvarefabrikk in Sykkylven, Norway. The Orbit was designed in a functional style, with a distinct curved wooden frame work. Related to the Orbit is the Siesta chair and, to some degree, many of Relling'ss laminated wooden frame chairs such as Nordic, Tema, Rest, Optima, Bonus and "420". The chair was sold and marketed abroad by the Westnofa export organization. During Ingmar Relling's career he developed furniture for the Ekornes, Tennfjord Furniture Factory, Vatne Lenestolfabrikk, Hjellegjerde and Pedro which all have manufactured comparable design as the Orbit chair. The Orbit was among the first recline chairs where the laminated wooden frame allowed for slide movement to readjust the recline position. The Orbits upholstery where covered in cow-hide. Sykkylven is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre is the village of Aure. Other villages in the municipality include Ikornnes, Straumgjerde, and Tusvik. The municipality is the 252nd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Jacob's Award
The Jacob's Awards were instituted in December 1962 as the first Irish television awards. Later, they were expanded to include radio. The awards were named after their sponsor, W. & R. Jacob & Co. Ltd., a biscuit manufacturer, and recipients were selected by Ireland's national newspaper television and radio critics. Jacob's Award winners were chosen annually until 1993, when the final awards presentation took place. The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society. The medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements.
