Opération Casernes
In the early morning of 30 January 1964, a military wing of the Front de libération du Québec known as the Armée de libération du Québec (English: Quebec Liberation Army) broke into the Fusiliers Mont-Royal's barrack in an operation dubbed Opération Casernes and managed to steal numerous firearms. Break in At 7:30am on 30 January 1964, the ALQ broke into the barrack of Fusiliers Mont-Royal in Montreal. The ALQ militants killed the nightwatchman, killed a member of the Corps des Commissionnaires and captured 8 employees who they tied up. Afterwards, the ALQ militants began taking firearms and ammunition. By 9:00am, the ALQ had left with $20,000 in stolen firearms. Bren
The Bren gun (Brno-Enfield) was a series of light machine guns (LMG) made by the United Kingdom in the 1930s and used in various roles until 1992. While best known for its role as the British and Commonwealth forces' primary infantry LMG in World War II, it was also used in the Korean War and saw service throughout the latter half of the 20th century, including the 1982 Falklands War. Although fitted with a bipod, it could also be mounted on a tripod or be vehicle-mounted. The Bren gun was a licensed version of the Czechoslovak ZGB 33 light machine gun which, in turn, was a modified version of the ZB vz. 26, which British Army officials had tested during a firearms service competition in the 1930s. The STEN (or Sten gun) is a British submachine gun chambered in 9×19mm which was used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces throughout World War II and during the Korean War.
