Optare Spectra
The Optare Spectra was a double-decker bus body built on the VDL DB250, DAF (now VDL) DB250 chassis between 1991 and 2006. The vehicle was developed as a joint project between Optare and VDL Bus Chassis, DAF; it was based on the designs of the successful MCW Metrobus, the design rights of which had been jointly purchased by VDL Bus & Coach, DAF and Optare in 1989 following the collapse of Metro Cammell Weymann. With the launch of the DB250LF chassis sometime after production commenced, the Spectra was built to low-floor bus, low-floor specification, and was one of the first low-floor bus, low-floor double-decker buses available in the United Kingdom. The design is notable for the exclusion of a lower deck rear window, a practice that has become more commonplace. The bus typically seated 47 on the upper deck and 28 on the lower deck in single-door format. Birmingham bus route 50 operates in Birmingham, England. It operates from Central Birmingham to Druids Heath via Moseley, Kings Heath and Maypole along Alcester Road, it is one of the busiest bus routes in Europe. Route 50 was introduced in 1949 and is currently served by National Express West Midlands and Diamond West Midlands. History Route 50 was introduced by Birmingham City Transport between the City Centre and Maypole in October 1949 to replace a withdrawn tram route. London Buses Route 60
London Buses route 60 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Old Coulsdon and Streatham, it is operated by Arriva London. History Route 60 was introduced in September 1982 as a replacement in part for routes 118 and 130, linking Clapham Common with Croydon. In 1998, the route was extended south to Old Coulsdon, replacing route 50 and curtailed northbound to Streatham. Capital Logistics was due to start operating route 60 from September 1998, however the new low floor buses specified were not ready in time. Capital Logistics was a bus and coach operator in London. History Capital Logistics was formed in August 1997 following the merger of Whyte's Airport Services and Capital Coaches the previous April. It operated a variety of coach and contract services around London Heathrow Airport, and some London Regional Transport services, including route H26 Hoppa minibus service. This route used Mercedes-Benz 709D minibuses fitted with wheelchair lifts and was supported by Hounslow Council. In September 1998, Capital Logistics was due to take over route 60. Problems with delivery of buses meant that the company could not start the contract on time, and the route was temporarily operated by no less than eight different operators on an ad hoc basis, with double sub-contracting. London Buses route 16 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Cricklewood and Victoria Station, it is operated by Metroline. History The 16 is a long-standing, high-profile route following a nearly straight route between Victoria Station and Cricklewood Garage, largely along the Edgware Road. Twenty LGOC B-type buses were to be used on route 16 but only three were used after the war had ended. On 4 June 1927, LS (London Six) type buses with six wheels went into service on route 16. AEC Routemaster
The AEC Routemaster is a Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, front-engined double-decker bus that was designed by London Transport Executive, London Transport and built by the Associated Equipment Company (AEC) and Park Royal Vehicles. The first prototype was completed in September 1954 and the last one was delivered in 1968. The layout of the vehicle was conventional for the time, with a half-cab, front-mounted engine and open rear platform, although the coach version was fitted with rear platform doors.
