Operation Mincemeat (film)
''Operation Mincemeat'' is a 2021 British war drama film directed by John Madden. It is based upon Ben Macintyre's book on the British Operation Mincemeat during the Second World War. The film stars Colin Firth, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Penelope Wilton, Johnny Flynn and Jason Isaacs. This was Paul Ritter's final film appearance, and was dedicated to his memory. The film had its world premiere at the 2021 British Film Festival in Australia, and was released in the United Kingdom on 15 April 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures. It was released on Netflix in North American and South American countries on 11 May 2022. Plot In 1943, the United Kingdom is deeply entrenched in World War II. John Madden (director)
John Philip Madden (born 8 April 1949) is an English director of stage, film, television, and radio. He is known for directing ''Shakespeare in Love'' (1998), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. He has also gained recognition for directing ''The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'' (2012) and its sequel ''The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'' (2015). Life and career Madden was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. He was educated at Clifton College in Bristol. He was in the same house as Roger Michell, who became a friend and later also a director. Ewen Edward Samuel Montagu (29 March 1901 – 19 July 1985) was a British judge, Naval intelligence officer and author. He is best known for his leading role in Operation Mincemeat, a critical military deception operation which misdirected German forces' attention away from the Allied Invasion of Sicily in Operation Husky.
