Operation Duryodhana
{{unreferenced, date=July 2015 Operation Duryodhana (2005) was the code name of a sting operation, which captured on camera eleven members of Parliament of India accepting money to table questions on the floor of the Parliament. Description This was the first such sting operation in the history of Republic of India, and all the members were expelled from the Parliament. Ten of them belonged to 14th Lok Sabha while one was from Rajya Sabha. The operation was named after the Mahabharata character Duryodhana who is popularly viewed as evil and power-hungry. Sting Operation
In law enforcement, a sting operation is a deceptive operation designed to catch a person attempting to commit a crime. A typical sting will have an undercover law enforcement officer, detective, or co-operative member of the public play a role as criminal partner or potential victim and go along with a suspect's actions to gather evidence of the suspect's wrongdoing. Mass media journalists occasionally resort to sting operations to record video and broadcast to expose criminal activity. Sting operations are common in many countries, such as the United States, but they are not permitted in some countries, such as Sweden or France. There are prohibitions on conducting certain types of sting operations, such as in the Philippines, where it is illegal for law enforcers to pose as drug dealers to apprehend buyers of illegal drugs. Raja Ram Pal
Raja Ram Pal (born 20 November 1960) is an Indian politician with the Samajwadi Party, and was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha from Akbarpur (Lok Sabha constituency). Earlier, as a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), he had been a member of the 14th Lok Sabha from Bilhaur, before being expelled on 23 December 2005, along with ten others, after the sting Operation Duryodhana. The expulsion was sub judice when the 14th Lok Sabha finished its term. Life The son of Ram Nath Pal and Rukmani Devi, Raja Ram was born in the town Sirohi and attended D.A.V. College, Kanpur. After his LLB, he joined the law profession. In 1996, he joined the BSP and was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, and in 2004 to the 14th Lok Sabha.
