''One for Sorrow'' is the fifth studio album by the Finnish melodic death metal band Insomnium. It was released on October 12, 2011 in Finland, October 17, 2011 throughout the rest of Europe, and October 18, 2011 in the USA, on Century Media Records. It is the band's first release on the Century Media label. Music videos were released for the tracks "One for Sorrow", "Through the Shadows", "Only One Who Waits", "Regain the Fire", and for the limited edition bonus track "Weather The Storm". Insomnium
Insomnium is a melodic death metal band from Joensuu, Finland. The sound and lyrical themes of their music portray darkness, sorrow, loss, pain, and nature. They are primarily a melodic death metal band with occasional elements of doom metal and progressive metal. History On 9 September 2011 Insomnium released the music video "Through the Shadows" from their 2011 album, '' One for Sorrow''. In November, 2011 Insomnium embarked on their first headlining European tour with support from Before the Dawn and MyGRAIN. During April, 2012 Insomnium returned to tour the U.K. as the main support act for British gothic metal band, Paradise Lost. Vreid was also present on the tour as a supporting opening act. Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. Mikael Stanne
Bengt Mikael Stanne (born 20 May 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as the vocalist and one of the lyricists (as well as a former rhythm guitarist) for the Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. Since the departure of original drummer Anders Jivarp in 2021, Stanne is the only remaining original member of the band. Stanne is also the vocalist for bands Grand Cadaver and The Halo Effect, which formed in 2020 and 2021 respectively. He was also an ex-vocalist for Swedish bands HammerFall and In Flames. Background Dark Tranquillity Stanne, along with Niklas Sundin, formed Dark Tranquillity because they were bored, along with interest in metal from their influences. Niilo Sevänen
Niilo Sevänen (born 19 August 1979) is a musician from Joensuu, Finland. He is best known as the current lead vocalist/bassist for the melodic death metal band, Insomnium. Background Sevänen grew up on the coast of Finland in the town of Turku, before moving to Joensuu where he was raised. In 1994, he began learning the bass guitar and formed his first band: a punk rock act called Paise. The following year, the band changed its name to Stonecrow and began to shift its musical style. Sevänen left the band two years later due to musical differences. However, following his departure, he quickly collaborated with musicians whose interests aligned themselves with Sevänen and formed the melodic death metal band Insomnium. Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal).
