Klymaxx
Klymaxx is an American all-female pop/ R&B band from Los Angeles, California. The band's classic lineup consisted of Bernadette Cooper, Lorena Porter Shelby, Cheryl Cooley, Robbin Grider, Lynn Malsby, and Joyce "Fenderella" Irby. History Klymaxx was created and formed in 1979 by Bernadette Cooper (producer/drummer/vocals); the other original members included Lorena "Lungs" Porter Shelby (lead vocals), Cheryl Cooley (guitar), Robbin Grider (keyboards/guitar), and Lynn Malsby (keyboards). Joyce "Fenderella" Irby (bass/vocals/producer) joined the band later, before the recording of their debut album. The women developed their core sound in rehearsal, and continued with Bernadette Cooper becoming the band's figurehead. Their debut album ''Never Underestimate the Power of a Woman'' was released in 1981, and their second album was '' Girls Will Be Girls''. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. MCA was forced to exit the talent agency business in order to complete the merger. As American Decca owned Universal Pictures, MCA assumed full ownership of Universal and made it into a top film studio, producing several hits. ''The Maxx Is Back'' is the fifth studio album by Klymaxx, released in 1990 (see 1990 in music), by which time the group only consisted of three original members, Lorena Porter Shelby (lead vocals), Cheryl Cooley (guitar) and Robbin Grider (keyboards). Bernadette Cooper (vocals/drums), Lynn Malsby (keyboards) and Joyce "Fenderella" Irby (bass guitar/vocals) were not involved in the project. The first single, " Good Love", was successful in the United States among R&B fans, reaching number four on the R&B chart. The second and final single, "Private Party", was a moderate hit, peaking at number 62 on the R&B chart. ''Greatest Hits'' is the seventh and final album with ( Constellation/MCA) by the group Klymaxx. It featured one song from group founder Bernadette Cooper's 1990 solo album '' Drama According to Bernadette Cooper'', called "I Look Good", as well as a compilation of their greatest hits ("I Miss You", "I'd Still Say Yes", "The Men All Pause", "Meeting in the Ladies Room", "Man Size Love" and "Sexy"). This is the first greatest hits package released by Klymaxx. Another compilation was released in 2003 as part of the ''20th Century Masters Millennium Collection''. "Ain't Nobody" is a song by American funk band Rufus (band), Rufus and American singer Chaka Khan.
