Onayena Constituency
Onayena Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. The district capital is the settlement of Onayena. The constituency's population has grown significantly over recent years, dominated by the Ovambo language speaking people and a small group of San people. It had 15,684 inhabitants in 2004 and 8,550 registered voters . Economy and infrastructure The main economic activities in the constituency are agriculture and cattle rearing. Omahangu is the principal crop in Onayena, while cattle, goats and donkeys are the farming animals in the area. The constituency has important cultural and historical links. Onayena has a settlement prominent for investment opportunities and has a lot of large virgin land available housing and business investment. 2020 Namibian Local And Regional Elections
Local and regional elections were held in Namibia on 25 November 2020 to elect new local and regional councils. The previous round of elections was held in 2015 and won by the ruling SWAPO party. Electoral system Elections for regional councils are held using the first-past-the-post electoral system. Voters in each constituency elect one councillor to represent them on their regional council. Local authority councillors are elected by a system of proportional representation. Local authority candidate lists have affirmative action requirements for women. Election process Although Namibia has 1.35 million registered voters, only about 370,000 have voter cards that specify their area of residence, a requirement to elect local and regional councillors. Uuyoka is a small settlement in Onayena Constituency, Oshikoto Region in Namibia, the village has schools including Uuyoka Combined School which comprises grades 1 to 10. Oniimwandi
Onimwandi is a settlement in the Oshana Region in northern Namibia. It belongs to the Oshakati West electoral constituency and is situated away from Oshakati on the left hand side of the main road on the way to Okahao. The headman of the Oniimwandi village is Mr Erastus Amupolo and his assistant is Mr Juuda Amupolo. Oniimwandi was the site of a Koevoet military base during the Namibian War of Independence. There is an ELCIN church named after the village, and ''Oniimwandi Primary School'', just next to it. Oniimwandi is the birthplace of former minister Abraham Iyambo (1961–2013) and poet and journalist Mvula ya Nangolo (1943–2019). Uuyoka Combined School
Uuyoka Combined School is a government school in Uuyoka village in northern Namibia. It was established during the colonial era in 1961. The first lessons took place under the Camelthorn tree (local 'Okathiya') and lessons were given by local peoples. Nehale Senior Secondary School
Nehale Senior Secondary School is a public school in Onayena, Oshikoto Region, Namibia. Established in 1976, it is among the oldest secondary schools in the region. Nehale SSS is named after Nehale Mpingana, king of the Ondonga. The school is located at Onayena, approximately 20 kilometres east of Ondangwa. It has a history of exceptional performance with the highest pass rate in the region and the second best preferred school in the region after Oshigambo High School. Nehale Secondary School is also a cluster centre to the schools in Onayena. It is part of Onathinge education cluster. Current State The school was established during the colonial era and has not seen major renovations since then. The school obtains most of its funding from the government.
