Omran Company
Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN) is a Government owned company mandated to drive the investment, growth and development of the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Established in 2005, they are the master developers of major tourism, heritage and urban developments. History Omran was established to support Oman's emerging tourism sector, with a directive to take over the development of the tourism infrastructure in the Sultanate of Oman. The first project completed by OMRAN was the Millennium Resort Mussanah, formerly the site of the Second Asian Beach Games in 2010. In 2014, OMRAN's mandate was broadened and the company underwent restructuring. Omran was handed all responsibility for tourism infrastructure development, leaving the Ministry of Tourism with a regulatory role. Asian Beach Games
The Asian Beach Games, also known as ABG, is a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are described as the second or third largest Asian multi-sport event, after the Asian Games. Its popularity is increasing due to the low cost of temporary venues, with beaches and oceans already available, while spectators and tourists are also already available in sand and sea tourist areas. In its history, six countries have hosted the Asian Beach Games. Forty-five nations have participated in the Games. Oman Convention And Exhibition Centre
The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre is a major business and tourism facility owned and developed by the Oman Tourism Development Company and located in the Seeb area of Capital city Muscat, Oman. History The first phase of the project, which includes the exhibition halls designed by SSH and built by Carillion Alawi, opened in June 2016. There are five exhibition halls which in total provide 22,000 sq m of exhibition space. The second phase, which includes the convention centre itself being built by a joint venture between Shapoorji Pallonji and Oman Shapoorji Company, is due to open in June 2018. Bimmah Sinkhole
Hawiyyat Najm ( ar, هوية نجم), known as Bimmah Sinkhole in English, is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman, very close to the Al Sharqiyah region just off the highway to Sur, few kilometers before Tiwi. Location To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a fenced and toilet-equipped park, Hawiyat Najm Park, around it, along with a stairway leading down to the hole. Geology A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. It is only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Ḑibāb and Bamah (Bimmah).
