Omar Shama
Omar Azmy Shama (born 1976) ( ar, عمر عزمي شامة) (Various spellings include ''Omar Schama'', ''Omar Chama'') is an Egyptian screenwriter and film producer born in Cairo, Egypt. Following university, he worked as a reporter at the Associated Press news agency. He later quit his job to focus on a career in the film industry. In 2012, he founded with independent filmmaker Ahmad Abdalla and actor Asser Yassin the production company Independent Filmmakers Initiative: Mashroua. His new film ''After the Battle (film)'' with filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah has been selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival The 65th Cannes Film Festival was held from 16 to 27 May 2012. A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Ahmad Abdalla El Sayed Abdelkader ( ar, أحمد عبد الله السيد) (born on December 19, 1979, Cairo) is an Egyptian film director, editor and screenwriter. His debut feature film is ''Heliopolis (2009 film), Heliopolis'' (2009); his second film is ''Microphone (film), Microphone'' (2010). He studied music in the 1990s and began working as a film editor in 1999. He moved to feature-length films in 2002 and began doubling as a visual effects supervisor and credits designer. Asser Ashraf Fouad Yassin ( ar, آسر أشرف فؤاد ياسين; born February 25, 1981) is an Egyptian actor, writer, and film producer. He has been awarded Best Actor for several of his works. Yassin began his career on the stage of the American University in Cairo spotted by Director Khairy Beshara to play his first role on TV in Qalb Habiba in 2006, followed by the blockbuster The Yacoubian Building in 2007. Yousry Nasrallah ( ar, يسرى نصر الله ) (born 26 July 1952) is an Egyptian film director. Biography Nasrallah was born to a Coptic Christian family in Cairo. He graduated in economics and political science at Cairo University. Following, he worked as a film critic and directing assistant in Beirut from 1978 to 1982. He became assistant to Youssef Chahine whose company Misr International would go on to produce his films. The Palme d'Or (; en, Golden Palm) is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1955 by the festival's organizing committee. The 65th Cannes Film Festival was held from 16 to 27 May 2012. Italian film director Nanni Moretti was the President of the Jury for the main competition and British actor Tim Roth was the President of the Jury for the Un Certain Regard section. French actress Bérénice Bejo hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.
