Oman Ice Sports Committee
The Oman Skating Sports Committee (OSSC) ( ar, اللجنة العمانية لرياضات التزلج) is the governing body of ice hockey in Oman. History The OSSC joined the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) as an associate member on 24 May 2014. Oman became the fourth nation from the Persian Gulf region to join the IIHF (United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar), and therefore has no right to vote in the General Assembly. The current president of the OSSC is Said Ali Hassan Al-Zaabi. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The IIHF Hall of Fame was founded in 1997, and has been located within the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1998.
