Olympia Badge
The Olympia Badge is a Girl Guide and Girl Scout emblem, designed as a reminder of the original purpose of the Olympic Games. The first Olympia Badge was designed by Soma Hellinikou Odigismou, the Greek Guiding Association, to mark the return of the Olympic Games to Athens in 2004. The second Olympia Badge was launched 23 January 2008 by the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, designed to celebrate the 2008 Summer Olympics which were held in Beijing in August 2008. The aim of the badge was to promote the Guiding message in many ways, including sport. Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
A Girl Guide or Girl Scout is a member of a section of some Guiding organisations who is between the ages of 10 and 14. Age limits are different in each organisation. The term Girl Scout is used in the United States and several East Asian countries. The two terms are used synonymously within this article. Girl Guides are organised into units/troops averaging 15–30 girls under guidance of a team of leaders. Units subdivide into patrols of about six Guides and engage in outdoor and special interest activities. Units may affiliate with national and international organisations. Some units, especially in Europe, have been co-educational since the 1970s, allowing boys and girls to work together as Scouts. There are other programme sections for older and younger girls. Olympic Oath
The Olympic Oath (distinct from the Olympic creed) is a solemn promise made by one athlete, judge or official, and one coach at the Opening Ceremony of each Olympic Games. Each oath taker is from the host nation and takes the oath on behalf of all athletes, officials, or coaches at the Games. The athletes' oath was first introduced for the 1920 Summer Olympic Games, with oaths for the officials and coaches added in 1972 and 2010. The oath is usually said in the language of the nation which is hosting the games; however, in 1994 both the athletes' and officials' oaths were said in English. Until the 1984 games the oath takers swore upon their nation's flag; since then all have taken the oath whilst holding the Olympic Flag. The Greek Guiding Association ( el, Σώμα Ελληνικού Οδηγισμού, ΣΕΟ), formerly known as the Greek Girl Guides Association ( el, Σώμα Ελληνίδων Οδηγών, ΣΕΟ), is the national Guiding association of Greece. Guiding in Greece started in 1932 and became a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1933. The coeducational organization has 10,682 members (as of 2008). Hong Kong Girl Guides Association () is the sole Guide organisation in Hong Kong. It was formally established in 1919 though the first Girl Guides Company was formed in 1916. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries.
