Oltrepò Pavese
The Oltrepò Pavese (; lmo, label=Western Lombard, Ultrepò Paves) is an area of the Province of Pavia, in the north-west Italian region of Lombardy, which lies to the south of the river Po. It is ('beyond') the Po when considered from the provincial capital Pavia and in general from the rest of Lombardy, hence the name. Geography Extending over an area of c. , it is roughly triangular in shape, with a base to the north formed by the Po and a southern apex at Monte Lesima (), a mountain of the Ligurian Apennines which is the highest point in the province. To the west it is bounded by the Province of Alessandria (Piedmont) and to the east by the Province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna). Stradella ( Lombard: ''Stradéla'') is a town and ''comune'' (population 10,922) of the Oltrepò Pavese in the Province of Pavia in the northern Italian region of Lombardy. It is situated in the Padan Plain, about 5 km (3 mi) south of the river Po. History Stradella, together with what is now the almost disinhabited locality of Montalino, was under the suzerainty of the bishop of Pavia in the early Middle Ages (being the most important center of the fief in the 11th century). Tidone
The Tidone is a river in the Region of Emilia Romagna in northern Italy. It is a right-bank tributary of the Po River. The stream rises in the Apennine Mountains near Monte Penice and flows in a northerly direction into the Po. Geography The Tidone's sources are on the northern slope of Monte Penice at an altitude of over in the Apennine Mountains in the municipality of Menconico. The river flows down a narrow mountain valley called the ''Val Tidone''. The upper reaches of the stream are located in the Province of Pavia while the middle and lower course is in the Province of Piacenza.
