Bergen (), historically Bjørgvin, is a city and municipality in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. , its population is roughly 285,900. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway. Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. The county is one of two counties in Norway that have Nynorsk as their official written language form (the others are neutral as to which form people use). Laksevåg is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located in the western part of the municipality. Historically, the area was called ''Laxevaag'', and it was a separate municipality until 1972 when it was merged into Bergen. The borough of Laksevåg has residential areas on the hillside of the mountain Damsgårdsfjellet facing the Puddefjorden. By the fjord itself are several industrial buildings, many of them connected with the maritime industry. The rococo, rococo-style Damsgård Manor is located in the borough. Lyderhorn
Lyderhorn is a mountain in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is one of "De syv fjell", the seven mountains surrounding the city centre, and the starting location of Bergen Turlag's annual trip of the mountains. It is located by Liavatnet approximately west of the city center. Due to its prominent visibility from the seas, it has historically been a navigational mark for sailors. The tall Ørnafjellet is an adjacent peak, and below Ørnafjellet are the two lakes Skåleviksvatnet and Søre Skåleviksvatnet. North of Ørnafjellet is Kvarven fort, a strategic point during World War II, still featuring several bunkers and cannon positions used in the defense of Bergen. Olsvik Church
Olsvik Church ( no, Olsvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Olsvik neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Olsvik parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1990 using plans drawn up by the architect Aksel Fronth. The church seats about 500 people. History In 1982, the new parish of Olsvik was separated from the Loddefjord parish. Planning for a new church began soon after. Aksel Fronth was hired to design the new building and land was acquired. Storavatnet
Storavatnet is a lake just southwest of the village of Loddefjord in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The long lake is located in the borough of Laksevåg, west of the city center of Bergen. There is a small man-made dam on the southwest coast, regulating the one natural outlet for the lake. The major highway junction of Norwegian County Road 562 and Norwegian National Road 555 lies on the northern shore of the lake. Route 562 heads north to the Askøy Bridge going to the island of Askøy. Byfjorden (Hordaland)
Byfjorden (Norwegian Nynorsk and Bokmål: /byːfjɔrn/, /-ɔɾn/; Bokmål: also /-ɔɳ/; Bergensk: usually /-ɔʁn/) is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. The long fjord separates the island of Askøy from the mainland Bergen Peninsula, passing right north of the city of Bergen on the mainland. The western entrance to Byfjorden is between the village of Drotningsvik in Laksevåg borough, Bergen, and the village of Marikoven on the island of Askøy in Askøy municipality.
