Olivier Libaux
Olivier Libaux (5 May 1964 – 29 September 2021) was a French record producer, songwriter, and guitarist. A founding member of the band Les Objets, he was also the founder of the musical projects Nouvelle Vague and Uncovered Queens of the Stone Age. Career Les Objets After playing in several bands, Olivier Libaux founded Les Objets with Jérôme Rousseaux in 1989. They released two albums, ''La Normalité'' in 1989 and ''Qui Est Qui'' in 1994, on Columbia Records/ Sony Music. Video clips for the songs La Normalité and Sarah were directed by Michel Gondry. While in Les Objets, Olivier Libaux started a number of collaborations as a musician and guitarist. He has played with artists Carla Bruni, Alex Gopher, Dominique Dalcan, Jean-François Coen, Helena Noguerra, Le tone, and the band Prudence. Nouvelle Vague (band)
Nouvelle Vague is a French cover band led by musicians Olivier Libaux and Marc Collin. Their name means "new wave" in French, and refers simultaneously to the French New Wave cinema movement of the 1960s, to the new wave music movement of the 1970s and 1980s, which provides many of the songs that the band covers, and to bossa nova (Portuguese for "new wave"), a musical style that the band frequently uses in its arrangements. The group's recordings and live performances have featured a large rotating cast of mostly female vocalists. Several of the artists who have performed with the band have also had successful solo careers, including Camille, Phoebe Killdeer, Mélanie Pain, and Nadéah Miranda. Skye Edwards
Skye Edwards (born Shirley Klaris Yonavieve Edwards; 27 May 1974), sometimes simply Skye, is a British singer-songwriter. Her career began in 1994 when she and the Godfrey brothers (Paul Godfrey, a DJ, and Ross Godfrey, a multi-instrumentalist) formed the band Morcheeba, which released five albums with Skye as lead vocalist. In 2003, the band split, after which Skye released two solo albums: '' Mind How You Go'' in 2006, and ''Keeping Secrets'' in 2009. In 2010, Edwards returned to Morcheeba, again as lead vocalist. In 2012, she released her third solo album, ''Back to Now'', while in 2015 she released her fourth one, ''In A Low Light''. Edwards decided to shorten her name to Skye by taking the first letter of each of her names and putting them together. She is married to bass player Steve Gordon and they have four children. ''Bande à Part'' is the second studio album by the French band Nouvelle Vague. It was released on 14 June 2006 in Europe on Peacefrog Records. Like the band's eponymous first album, ''Bande à Part'' is a collection of bossa nova cover versions of 1980s new wave tracks. The European edition has 14 standard tracks, with an 18-track limited edition. The slightly different United States edition, on the Luaka Bop label, has 14 standard tracks, with a 17-track limited edition. Release ''Bande à Part'' was a commercial success, charting in several European countries. The album peaked at number 23 on the French album charts, number 15 on the German charts, and number 8 on the Portuguese charts. It also reached number 79 in the UK Albums Chart. The album was awarded a gold certification from the Independent Music Companies Association, indicating sales of at least 100,000 copies throughout Europe. Naïve Records is a French independent record label based in Paris, specializing in electronic music, pop music, jazz and classical music. Founding and expansion It was founded in 1998 by Patrick Zelnik, former CEO of Virgin France, Gilles Paires and Eric Tong Cuong. The Smiths
The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. They comprised the singer Morrissey, the guitarist Johnny Marr, the bassist Andy Rourke and the drummer Mike Joyce. Squirrel Nut Zippers is an American swing and jazz band formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, by Jimbo Mathus, James "Jimbo" Mathus (vocals and guitar), Tom Maxwell (singer), Tom Maxwell (vocals and guitar), Katharine Whalen (vocals, banjo, ukulele), Chris Phillips (drums), Don Raleigh (bass guitar), and Ken Mosher. Inara Maryland George (born July 4, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, one half of The Bird and the Bee, a member of the band Merrick, with Bryony Atkinson, and a member of the trio The Living Sisters, with Eleni Mandell and Becky Stark.
