Oleg Chuzhda (Ukrainian: Олег Чужда; born May 8, 1985, in Canet d'en Berenguer) is a Ukrainian former professional road racing cyclist. He is the son of fellow cyclist Oleg Petrovich Chuzhda. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators. The two most common competition formats are mass start events, where riders start simultaneously (though sometimes with a handicap) and race to a set finish point; and time trials, where individual riders or teams race a course alone against the clock. Stage races or "tours" take multiple days, and consist of several mass-start or time-trial stages ridden consecutively. Oleg Petrovich Chuzhda or Czougeda (Олег Чужда),Transcriptions of the surname from Cyrillic into Latin characters have varied. The current standard English spelling of the surname is Chuzhda. However, in English press reports and record books during his career, his name was frequently spelled Czougeda or Tchugeda. Spelled "Tschushda" sites in German, or Tchougeda and Tschuchda in French born July 23, 1963, in Kiev, Ukraine, (then part of the USSR) is a former Soviet/Ukrainian cyclist. The Volta a Portugal ( en, Tour of Portugal), also known as Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta ( en, Tour of Portugal on Bicycle), is an annual multi-stage road bicycle racing competition held in Portugal. The competition takes place during a two-week span. History The competition started in 1927, although its second edition only occurred in 1931. In 1936 and 1937 the tour did not take place. During World War II the race was cancelled between 1942 and 1945. In 1975 the competition was skipped due to the Carnation Revolution.
