Old Brodleians
Old Brodleians RUFC (or ''Brods'', as they are known) are an English rugby union club from Hipperholme, near Halifax, West Yorkshire. The club currently operates three senior men's teams in the past there was a strong veterans side whose regular European Tour tradition has been carried on by the club's third team, The Beavers. There is a strong tradition of junior rugby and the club runs a full range of junior teams for both boys and girls. In addition, the club operates five netball teams. History The club was founded in 1930 by former pupils of local Hipperholme Grammar School. As the school was endowed in the will of a local man, Matthew Brodley hence, the 'Old Brodleians' was chosen as the club's name. In the early years they struggled to raise a full team and almost went out of existence in 1934. Yorkshire Rugby Football Union
The Yorkshire Rugby Football Union is the governing body responsible for rugby union in the historic county of Yorkshire, England. It is one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union having formed in 1869, the union was formerly called Yorkshire County Club. Hipperholme
Hipperholme is a village in West Yorkshire, England, located between the towns of Halifax and Brighouse in the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale. The population of this ward at the 2011 Census was 11,308. Geography Hipperholme is located at the crossroads of A58 road and A644 road, about east of Halifax town centre at a height of about a.s.l. (Christ Church). Lightcliffe is a village immediately east of Hipperholme. The boundary between the two is blurred, as there are places named after Lightcliffe with Hipperholme postal addresses. West Yorkshire
West Yorkshire is a metropolitan and ceremonial county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. It is an inland and upland county having eastward-draining valleys while taking in the moors of the Pennines. North 1 East
North 1 East is the sixth tier of the English rugby union domestic competition, formed in 1987 using the name North Division 2, involving clubs from the north of the country. There was also division known as North East 1 that began in 1987 for clubs based in the north-east but this was a seventh (later eighth) tier league. North Division 2 would later split into two regional divisions, currently known as North 1 East and North 1 West. North 1 East is made up of teams from around the North East and Yorkshire, who play home and away matches throughout a winter season. Halifax () is a minster and market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire, England. Yorkshire Division One is an English rugby union division, the seventh tier of the domestic competition, and the top level for local rugby union in parts of Yorkshire. The champions are automatically promoted to North 1 East, a division with a wider geographical area that also encompasses northeast England.
