Olaf Skavlan
Olaf Skavlan (25 January 1838 – 30 May 1891) was a Norwegian literary historian and playwright. Personal life He was born as Ole Skavlan in Stranda as a son of vicar and politician Aage Schavland (1806–1876) and his wife Gerhardine Pauline Bergh (1817–1884). He was a brother of Sigvald Skavlan, Einar Skavlan, Sr., Aage Skavlan and Harald Skavlan. In August 1879 in Stavanger he married Dagmar Kielland (1855–1931). Through this marriage he was a son-in-law of Jens Zetlitz Kielland, a brother-in-law of Ludvig Daae (politician), Ludvig Daae, Elling Holst, Kitty Lange Kielland, Alexander Kielland, Jacob Kielland (priest), Jacob Kielland and Tycho Kielland. He was the father of Einar Skavlan, father-in-law of Arnstein Arneberg and grandfather of Merete Skavlan. Career He debuted as a fiction writer as a student. ''Nyt Tidsskrift'' is a former Norwegian language, Norwegian literary, cultural and political periodical issued from 1882 to 1887, and with a second series from 1892 to 1895. Merete Skavlan
Merete Skavlan (25 July 1920 – 2 November 2018) was a Norwegian actress, theater instructor and director. She was born in Kristiania as a daughter of newspaper editor and theatre director Einar Skavlan and music educator Margrethe Bartholdy. She was a granddaughter of literary historian Olaf Skavlan. She was involved in resistance work during World War II, and joined the unofficial " Stanislavskij Group" in 1943. The members of this group founded Studioteatret, and she made her debut at Studioteatret's first performance in 1945, in a translation of Wilder's play ''The Long Christmas Dinner''. She continued to play for Studioteatret until 1950. Her acting career continued at Det Nye Teater, where she played from 1950 to 1952, at Folketeatret from 1952 to 1959, and at Oslo Nye Teater from 1959 to 1967. Einar Kielland Skavlan (30 July 1882 – 16 August 1954) was a Norwegian journalist, newspaper editor, theatre critic and theatre director. Biography Skavlan was born in Frogn. His father, Olaf Skavlan, was writer, literary historian and professor. He was also father of actress and theatre director Merete Skavlan. Skavlan was a journalist for ''Verdens Gang'' from 1907, and for ''Tidens Tegn'' from 1910. He was editor-in-chief for ''Dagbladet'' from 1915 to 1954, except for his period as director for the National Theatre from 1928 to 1930. He was a member of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights, where his father had been a member of the first board of directors. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. Johan Ernst Welhaven Sars (11 October 1835 – 27 January 1917) was a Norwegian professor, historian, author and editor. His main work was ''Udsigt over den norske Historie'', four volumes issued from 1873 to 1891.
