Oksibil, Pegunungan Bintang
Oksibil is a town and a district of Highland Papua in Indonesia that is also the administrative centre of the Pegunungan Bintang Regency. According to the 2010 census the district had a population of 4,087 inhabitants and on 2018 it increases to 4,566. The town is divided into eight villages (''desa''), with most populated one being Mabilabol with population of 1,460 in 2018 and the least populated one is Molbib Silibib with only 70 people living there according to Statistics Indonesia. Sex ratio in the district as of 2018 was 147 men for every 100 women. Other than being most populated, Mabilabol is also the most densely populated village. Oksibil was the site of a separatist conflict in 2023. Infrastructure There are four elementary schools, two junior highschools, and two senior highschools in the district as of 2018. Western New Guinea
Western New Guinea, also known as Papua, Indonesian New Guinea, or Indonesian Papua, is the western half of the Melanesian island of New Guinea which is administered by Indonesia. The Trans-Papua Highway (Indonesian: ''Jalan Raya Trans-Papua'') refers to 12 road segments, some under construction, across Western New Guinea in Indonesia, located in the island of New Guinea. The roads stretch from Sorong to Merauke with a total length of . As of March 2017, of roads had been completed and construction on all the roads was predicted to finish in 2018, but construction was delayed in late 2018 due to armed conflict. The completed road segments include 884 out of Indonesia's 1,068 km border road with Papua New Guinea. As of May 2017, the remaining parts of the road, including 7,000 meters of bridges, were planned to be completed in 2017 and 2018, although not all of the road has been layered by asphalt. Wamena
Wamena is a town and the capital of the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It also serves as the seat of Jayawijaya Regency. It is the largest town in Indonesian Papua's highlands, in the Baliem Valley and had a population of 64,967 at the 2020 Census. Wamena is the urban centre of a rural area housing highland Papua's highest concentration of population, with over 300,000 people inhabiting the Baliem Valley and surrounding areas. Merauke
Merauke is a large town and the capital of the South Papua province, Indonesia. It is also the administrative centre of Merauke Regency in South Papua. It is considered the easternmost city in Indonesia. The town was originally called Ermasoe. It is next to the Maro River where the Port of Merauke is located. As of the 2010 census, Merauke had a population of 87,634 which at the 2020 Census had increased to 102,351. Oksibil Airport
Oksibil Airport is an airport located at Oksibil, Highland Papua, Indonesia. The airport has connecting flights to with Trigana Air Service and Wings Air. The airport's runway is long and is partially marked asphalt (formerly grass) landing strip. The runway can handle Turboprop STOL aircraft but is able to handle larger Turboprop Regional airliner. There are few buildings that acts as a terminal structure as well as a small tower in the tarmac area beside the runway. Puskesmas ( id, Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat, ) are government-mandated community health clinics located across Indonesia. They are overseen by the Indonesian Ministry of Health and provide healthcare for the population on sub-district level. 2023 Oksibil Conflict
From 7 January until 12 January 2023, the separatist West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) periodically attacked Oksibil, the seat of Bintang Mountains Regency, Highland Papua. According to the Regional Police of Papua, Bintang Mountains is one of 7 regencies that are vulnerable to separatist attacks. Background , the spokesman for TPNPB and OPM, revealed on January 7 that the 35th Regional Defense Commando "Eastern Stars" ( id, Kodap XXXV Bintang Timur) planned to kill Indonesian policemen, destroy police vehicles, and burn down a 4G tower in Oksibil.
