The Oklahoma City Boulevard (also known as the Crosstown Boulevard) is an urban thoroughfare in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, US. The highway makes use of the former right-of-way of Interstate 40 (I-40), which was relocated to the south along a former rail alignment due to increased traffic and visible wear on parts of the freeway. A $85 million project by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) with funds from the US Department of Transportation began construction in 2011. Interstate 40 (I-40) is an Interstate Highway in Oklahoma that runs across the state from Texas to Arkansas. West of Oklahoma City, it parallels and replaces old U.S. Highway 66 (US-66), and, east of Oklahoma City, it parallels US-62, US-266, and US-64. I-40 is the longest Interstate highway in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City is near the geographic center of the United States and is an integral point on the U.S. Interstate Network. The city is served by numerous roads and highways, toll roads, three major airports, a train station, a bus station, and a transit system. Roads and highways Oklahoma City is served by an extensive freeway network. The city's network serves every major city in the region and are 6–8 lanes. Most have a level of congestion significantly lower than most comparably sized cities. In fact, OKC's freeways are rarely congested with the "stop and go" commuter patterns of other major cities.
