Oiartzun Kirol Elkartea is a Spanish football club from Oiartzun, Gipuzkoa, founded in 1975. It is best known for its women's section, established in 1981. History Oiartzun was one of the leading teams in the first years of organized women's football in Spain, winning the national championship in 1987 and 1988 and the national league in 1991. However, in 1993 the team was relegated for financial reasons to the second tier, which became four years later the top category as the División de Honor was disbanded. Meanwhile, Oiartzun reached the semifinals of the Copa de la Reina in 1996 and 1997. When RFEF launched the Superliga Femenina in 2001 Oiartzun was registered in second tier Primera Nacional. Oiartzun (river)
The Oiartzun River () is a short river in the Basque Country in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. It is the smallest river of Gipuzkoa flowing into the Bay of Biscay (Atlantic basin); the river joins the sea at the Bay of Pasaia. The Oiartzun rises in the Aiako Harria massif at an altitude higher than 700 m. It flows down through steep slopes and falls, with an average drop to its mouth of 5.49% (600 m drop in the first 5 km). The river meanders through the valley and several hamlets of the town of the same name. Orereta
Errenteria ( eu, Errenteria/Orereta, es, Rentería) is a town located in the province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Autonomous Community, in the north of Spain, near the French border. The river Oiartzun cuts its way through the town, one that has undergone severe pollution up to recent times on its lower stage. Miguel María Lasa Urquía (born 4 November 1947) is a Spanish former road bicycle racer. He was born in Oiartzun. He won four stages in the Vuelta a España as well as the Points classification in 1975 Vuelta a España. He also finished on the podium of Vuelta a España four times (1972, 1974, 1975, 1977). Izaskun Zubizarreta Guerendiain
Izaskun Zubizarreta Gerendiain (born September 30, 1970) is a Spanish ski mountaineer. Zubizarreta was born in Oiartzun. She started ski mountaineering in 1997 and competed first in the Cronoescalada race in Cerler in 2006. In the same year, she became a member of the national team. Xabier Lete
Xabier Lete Bergaretxe (Oiartzun, Gipuzkoa, April 5, 1944 - Donostia, December 4, 2010) was a Basque writer, poet, singer and politician. He started to write from an early age and he often published articles in the magazine "Zeruko Argia". In 1965 he created a band of Basque Music with Mikel Laboa, Benito Lertxundi, Joxean Artze, Jose Angel Irigarai and Lourdes Iriondo. The band, which was called "Ez Dok Amairu", disappeared in 1972, but Xabier Lete kept on singing with Lourdes Iriondo, who, by that time, had become his wife. In 1968, Lete published his first book of poems and in October 2009 he won the Basque Literature Award for his last book of poems "Egunsentiaren esku izotzak" (Frozen hands of the dawn). He received a hard blow in 2005 when his wife Lourdes died after an illness. In April 2009, Lete was made member of Jakiunde, the Basque Academy of Science, Art and Letters, and in 2010, he was named member of honor of the Academy of the Basque Language. Juan María Lekuona
Juan María Lekuona Berasategi (Oiartzun, Guipúzcoa, 1927 - Donostia, 5 December 2005) was a Basque poet in euskera. He was Manuel Lekuona's nephew. In 1953 he became a priest. After his residence in Rome, where he defended his thesis, he worked in Añorga, near Donostia. He read Gabriel Aresti's books in those years and that is why his work was very orientated to social fight in the beginning, as we can see in ''Mindura gaur'', his first book. He was the first president of EIZIE in 1987.
