State Route 552 (SR 552) is an east-west state highway in southern Ohio. The western terminus of the route is at SR 220 about west of Waverly. Its eastern terminus is at SR 104 nearly southwest of Waverly. SR 552 is located entirely within Pee Pee Township in northern Pike County. The highway follows the north shore of Lake White (part of Lake White State Park), while the corresponding state route following the south shore of the lake is SR 551. Route description Starting from a T-intersection with SR 220 southwest of Waverly, SR 552 travels in an east-southeasterly direction, before turning more to the south-southeast, bounded by woods on the north side and the north shore of Lake White on the south side. Waverly (sometimes known as Waverly City) is a city in, and the county seat of, Pike County, Ohio, United States, located 14 miles south of Chillicothe. The population was 4,165 at the 2020 census. The town was formed in 1829, as the construction of the Ohio and Erie Canal along the west bank of the Scioto River brought new growth to the area. In 1861 the county seat was moved here from Piketon. Waverly is served by the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library. The county is named for explorer Zebulon Pike. State Route 220 (SR 220) is an east–west state highway in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Its western terminus is at SR 772 about west of Waverly, and its eastern terminus is at the SR 32/ SR 124 concurrency east of Piketon. The entire route is in Pike County. Route description SR 220 begins at a T-intersection with SR 772 in Pebble Township. The route heads east through a rural, hilly area passing near the Combs Knob and Sponyers Knob. SR 220 enters Pee Pee Township and descends into the valley formed by the Pee Pee Creek at the community of Daleyville. The route intersects the western terminus of SR 551 next to Lake White. State Route 104 (SR 104) is a north–south highway in Southern Ohio. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 23 (US 23) in Portsmouth, Ohio and its northern terminus is at US 33 in Columbus. The route passes through or close to the towns of Portsmouth, Waverly, Chillicothe, Grove City, and Columbus. From Waverly to Chillicothe, it overlaps US 23. Though officially a north-south highway for its entire length, SR 104 is also signed east-west through Columbus.
