State Route 155 (SR 155) is an east–west state highway in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The highway's western terminus is at SR 93 in Shawnee. At its midpoint in Hemlock the highway is known as Sanders Street. The highway’s eastern terminus is at a four-way stop intersection with SR 13 in Corning. Established in the late 1920s, SR 155 serves as a connector route in southern Perry County. The two-lane route links the Village of Shawnee to the Village of Corning, at about the highways midpoint it passes through the Village of Hemlock and is known as Sanders Street. Wayne National Forest
The Wayne National Forest is located in the south-eastern part of the US state of Ohio, in the Unglaciated Allegheny Plateau. It is the only national forest in Ohio. Forest headquarters are located between The Plains and Nelsonville, Ohio, on US Route 33, overlooking the Hocking River. The originally forested land was cleared for agricultural and lumbering use in the late 18th and 19th century, but years of poor timbering and agricultural practices led to severe erosion and poor soil composition. The Wayne National Forest was started as part of a reforestation program. The forest comprises three administrative and purchase units: Athens, Marietta, and Ironton. New Straitsville, Ohio
New Straitsville is a village in Perry County, Ohio, United States. The population was 722 at the 2010 census. History New Straitsville was founded in 1870 as a coal mining town by the New Straitsville Mining Company. The town grew quickly and by 1880 the population was over 4,000 people. The coal mining activity ended in 1884, when a labor dispute at the mine ended with a group of miners sending a burning coal car into the mine, igniting the coal. At one time the heat from the fire was so great that residents could draw hot water directly from wells to brew coffee. The fire in the New Straitsville mine burns to this day. State Route 216 (SR 216) is a north–south state highway in the southeastern quadrant of the U.S. state of Ohio. The southern terminus of SR 216 is at a three-way stop T-intersection with SR 78 in Murray City. SR 216's northern terminus is also at a three-way stop T-intersection, this time with SR 93 in New Straitsville. Established in the mid-1920s, SR 216 traverses heavily wooded terrain as it connects the villages of Murray City and New Straitsville. When it first appeared, SR 216 extended south to Nelsonville and north and east to Shawnee and Corning. State Route 13 is a north–south state highway in the northern and southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. It is the tenth longest state route in Ohio . Its southern terminus is at State Route 550 near Athens, and its northern terminus is at U.S. Route 6 in Huron.
