Ohio Court Of Claims
The Ohio Court of Claims is a court of limited, statewide jurisdiction. The court's jurisdiction extends to cases: #Against the State of Ohio, in which the state has waived sovereign immunity #Connected to suits against the State of Ohio where Plaintiffs are asking for equitable relief #Involving denial of access to public records by the State or any county, city, or agency. The court also hears appeals from decisions made by the Ohio Attorney General on claims allowed under the Victims of Crime Act. Sovereign Immunity
Sovereign immunity, or crown immunity, is a legal doctrine whereby a sovereign or state cannot commit a legal wrong and is immune from civil suit or criminal prosecution, strictly speaking in modern texts in its own courts. A similar, stronger rule as regards foreign courts is named state immunity. History Sovereign immunity is the original forebear of state immunity based on the classical concept of sovereignty in the sense that a sovereign could not be subjected without his or her approval to the jurisdiction of another. In constitutional monarchies, the sovereign is the historical origin of the authority which creates the courts. Equitable Remedy
Equitable remedies are judicial remedies developed by courts of equity from about the time of Henry VIII to provide more flexible responses to changing social conditions than was possible in precedent-based common law. Equitable remedies were granted by the Court of Chancery in England, and remain available today in most common law jurisdictions. In many jurisdictions, legal and equitable remedies have been merged and a single court can issue either, or both, remedies.
