Ohio's 12th senatorial district has been based in rural western Ohio. It comprises the counties of Allen, Mercer, Shelby, Champaign as well as portions of Auglaize, Darke and Logan counties. It encompasses Ohio House districts 4, 84 and 85. It has a Cook PVI of R+14. Its Ohio Senator is Republican Matt Huffman. He resides in Lima, a city located in Allen County. Matt Huffman (born April 1, 1960) is an American politician serving as a member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 12th district since 2017, and currently serving as the Ohio Senate Majority Leader as a Republican. James Daniel Jordan (born February 17, 1964) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2007. Robert Lee Rayford (February 3, 1953 – May 15 1969), sometimes identified as Robert R. due to his age, was an American teenager from Missouri who has been suggested to represent the earliest confirmed case of HIV/AIDS in North America based on evidence which was published in 1988 in which the authors claimed that medical evidence indicated that he was "infected with a virus closely related or identical to human immunodeficiency virus type 1." Tennyson Guyer (November 29, 1912 – April 12, 1981) was a member of the United States House of Representatives. He was a Republican from Ohio for four terms from 1973 to 1981. Early life and career Born in Findlay, Ohio on November 29, either in 1912 or 1913, Guyer was educated in the public schools of Findlay, and performed as an aerialist at a young age with the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. List Of Presidents Of The Ohio Senate
The president of the Ohio State Senate is the leader of the Ohio State Senate. Under Ohio's first constitution, in effect from 1803 to 1851, the presiding officer of the senate was called the speaker. Starting in 1851, when the second constitution took effect, a new office of lieutenant governor was created. The new position of lieutenant governor carried with it the office of president of the senate, and was nominally the presiding officer of the senate. During this time, the actual legislative leader of the senate majority was the president pro tempore of the Ohio Senate. In the 1970s, another change was made, which made the office of lieutenant governor elected jointly with the governor.
