Ohangwena Region
Ohangwena is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, its capital is Eenhana. Major settlements in the region are the towns Eenhana and Helao Nafidi aa well as the self-governed village of Okongo. , Ohangwena had 150,724 registered voters. Ohangwena is traversed by the northwesterly line of equal latitude and longitude. In the north, Ohangwena borders Angola: the Cunene Province, except for a small border with Cuando Cubango Province in the far northeast. Regions Of Namibia
Namibia uses regions as its first-level subnational administrative divisions. Since 2013, it has 14 regions which in turn are subdivided into 121 constituencies. Upon Namibian independence, the pre-existing subdivisions from the South African administration were taken over. Since then, demarcations and numbers of regions and constituencies of Namibia are tabled by delimitation commissions and accepted or declined by the National Assembly. In 1992, the ''1st Delimitation Commission'', chaired by Judge President Johan Strydom, proposed that Namibia should be divided into 13 regions. Oshana
Oshana is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, its capital is Oshakati. The towns of Oshakati, Ongwediva and Ondangwa, all situated with this region, form an urban cluster with the second largest population concentration in Namibia after the capital Windhoek. , Oshana had 113,112 registered voters. Geography Oshana is one of only three regions without either a coastline or a foreign border. Endola Constituency
Endola is an electoral constituency in the Ohangwena Region of Namibia, on the border of Angola. It had 36,659 inhabitants in 2004 and 14,100 registered voters . The district centre is the settlement of Endola. Ferdinand Ingashipola Shifidi became a councillor of the constituency in November 2014 and was re-elected in 2015 and in 2020. The constituency is hard-hit by the drought just like the rest of the northern region, but the situation was made worse by lack of drinking water for people and their animals as many water points were disconnected because of unpaid bills. The constituency is also faced with the issue of people who have no national documents. Endola is a flood-prone area with many water pans therefore, good roads are needed to avoid a situation where villages are totally cut off during the rainy season. Eenhana Constituency
Eenhana is an electoral constituency in the Ohangwena Region of Namibia, on the border to Angola. It had 24,193 inhabitants in 2004 and 15,912 registered voters . The district centre is the town of Eenhana. Politics As is common in all constituencies of former Owamboland, Namibia's ruling SWAPO Party has dominated elections since independence. In the 2015 regional election SWAPO won by a landslide. Its candidate Nehemiah Haufiku gathered 6,113 votes, while the only opposition candidate, Dawid Johannes of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP), received 188 votes. The 2020 regional election was also won by the SWAPO candidate. Each of the 14 regions of Namibia is further subdivided into electoral constituencies. The size of the constituencies varies with the size and population of each region. There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency according to the 2011 census was Rundu Urban in the Kavango West region with 63,431 people; the least populous was Okatyali in the Oshana region with 3,187 people. The administrative division of Namibia is tabled by ''Delimitation Commissions'' and accepted or declined by the National Assembly. Onhuno is a settlement in the Ohangwena Region of Namibia between Ongha and Ohangwena. Oshakati
Oshakati is a town in northern Namibia. It is the regional capital of the Oshana Region and one of Namibia's largest places. Oshakati was founded in July 1966 and proclaimed a town in 1992. The town was used as a base of operations by the South African Defence Force (SADF) during the South African Border War. History In Oshiwambo, the language of the Ovambo people, the town's name means "that which is in between", although some believe that the name (Oshakati, also Otshakati) was used to refer to the broadcasting tower ( high), the tallest structure in the town centre and in Namibia. On 19 February 1988, a bomb blast occurred in Oshakati at the First National Bank, killing 27 people and badly injuring nearly 30 others, most of them nurses and teachers. Ondangwa
Ondangwa (earlier spelling ''Ondangua'') is a town in the Oshana Region of northern Namibia, bordering the Oshikoto Region. Ondangwa was first established as a mission station of the Finnish Missionary Society (the FMS) in 1890. In 1914, it became a local seat of government. Ondangwa is said to mean ''the end of the Ondonga area''. ( Ondonga is one of the kingdoms of Ovamboland), and Ondangwa is located on the western edge of this kingdom. Mahangu
