Oenone Wood (born 24 September 1980 in Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia) is a retired professional cycle sport, cyclist, who commenced her cycling career in 2001 at the age of 21. She was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. She was a member of professional cycling Team Columbia Women (USA) and the Canberra Cycling Club, and formerly of the T-Mobile Professional Women's Cycling Team (GER) and Equipe Nürnberger Versicherung. She lives in Merewether, New South Wales, Merewether, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle. Oenone achieved success as a road bicycle racing, road cyclist in Australia, including the Bay Criterium Series, and the Geelong Tour. She had great success overseas, particularly winning stages of the Giro d'Italia Femminile (ITA) and the Points Classification for the Giro d'Italia Femminile in 2004 and 2005, as well winning the UCI Women's Road World Cup series in 2004 and 2005. Sara Carrigan
Sara Carrigan (born 7 September 1980 in Gunnedah, New South Wales) is a professional cyclist from Australia, who commenced her cycling career in 1996 at the age of fifteen and is currently a member of the Belgian Lotto–Belisol Ladiesteam. She was formerly a member of Professional cycling Team, ''Van Bemmelen – AA Drink'' (NED). She lives in Nerang in Queensland and is a member of the Gold Coast Cats cycling club. She graduated from Somerset College in 1998 and completed her tertiary education at Griffith University. Her greatest success as a road cyclist has been in the 2004 Summer Olympics Women's Road race where she won the gold medal. Tour Down Under
The Tour Down Under (branded as the Santos Tour Down Under under a partnership arrangement) is a cycling race in and around Adelaide, South Australia, and is traditionally the opening event of the UCI World Tour and features all 19 UCI WorldTeams. It also runs as a UCI Women's ProSeries event and features a one-day circuit race as a 'prelude' to the main race. The race was established in 1999 with the support of then Premier of South Australia John Olsen as part of an effort to fill the gap in the state's sporting calendar left by the move of the Australian Grand Prix from Adelaide to Melbourne, Victoria. Since then, the event has been organised by South Australia's Major Event's arm Events South Australia.
