Odo Of Gascony
Odo (french: Eudes or ''Odon'', la, Odonis; c. 1010 – 10 March 1039/1040) was Duke of Gascony from 1032 and then Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitou from 1038. He was a member of the House of Poitiers, the second son of William V of Aquitaine, the eldest by his second wife Brisca, daughter of William II of Gascony. The ''Chronicle of Saint-Maixent'' and Adhemar of Chabannes are the chief sources for his reign. He was subscribing donation charters to Saint-Cyprien with his father and mother and his brother Theobald, who died young, before 1018. He inherited Gascony in 1032 after the death of his uncle Sancho VI. In 1033, Odo took possession of the County of Bordeaux, traditional seat of the Gascon dukes. At the death of his half-brother William VI in 1038, he succeeded as Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitou. Odon Jadot
Odon Jadot (13 April 1884 – 16 April 1968) was a Belgian railway engineer and administrator. He was responsible for building more than of railroad in the Belgian Congo. The lines helped carry copper mined in the Katanga Province to the sea via the ports of Matadi in the Congo, Dilolo in Angola and Beira, Mozambique, Beira in Mozambique. They also supported troop movements during World War I (1914–1918) and World War II (1939–1045). Family Odon Jadot was born on 13 April 1884 in Liège, Belgium. Second Battle Of The Odon
The Second Battle of the Odon comprised operations fought by the British Second Army during the Second World War. Attacks took place in mid-July 1944 against Panzergruppe West, as part of the Battle of Normandy. Operations Greenline and Pomegranate were intended to draw German attention away from Operation Goodwood, an attack from the Orne bridgehead on 18 July. The British also wanted to prevent the Germans from withdrawing Panzer divisions opposite the Second Army to create an armoured reserve which could oppose the First US Army during the Operation Cobra breakout in the west. Operation Epsom, also known as the First Battle of the Odon, was a British offensive in the Second World War between 26 and 30 June 1944, during the Battle of Normandy. The offensive was intended to outflank and seize the German-occupied city of Caen, an important Allied objective, in the early stages of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of north-west Europe.
