Odon is a town in Madison Township, Daviess County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,354 at the 2010 census. History Odon was originally called Clarksburg, and under the latter name was laid out in 1846. In 1880 the name was changed to Odon. Odon was incorporated in 1885. Geography Odon is located at (38.841462, -86.991148). According to the 2010 census, Odon has a total area of , of which (or 98.96%) is land and (or 1.04%) is water. John Marlan Poindexter (born August 12, 1936) is a retired United States naval officer and Department of Defense official. He was Deputy National Security Advisor and National Security Advisor during the Reagan administration. Indiana Football Hall Of Fame
The Indiana Football Hall of Fame is a sports museum and hall of fame in Richmond, Indiana. It honors persons associated with high school, college and professional American football in Indiana. Herb Henderson (American Football)
Herbert Raymond Henderson (June 21, 1899 – January 14, 1991) was a professional football player in the early 1920s. He played for one season, in 1921, for the Evansville Crimson Giants of the National Football League. Prior to playing pro football, Henderson played at the college level at Ohio State. There he was a starting halfback on the Buckeyes 1920 Big Ten Championship team. He also participated in the 1921 Rose Bowl Game. He later served as a football coach at Central High School in Evansville, Indiana for 4 years with a record of 26-8-2. After his coaching career ended, Henderson became an Athletic Business Manager. He stayed in that position for 5 years. He then made his mark as a Football Official in Indiana and was a grader of the Big Ten Conference officials for several years. Joseph Crook Dawson (July 17, 1889 - June 17, 1946) was an American race car driver. Biography He was born in Odon, Indiana on July 17, 1889. Dawson competed in the Indianapolis 500 race three times, beginning in 1911 when he drove a Marmon to a fifth-place finish. The following year, Dawson won after Ralph DePalma, who had led for 196 laps of the 200 lap race, dropped out with a mechanical failure. North Daviess Junior Senior High School is a high school located near Elnora, Indiana. Its athletic nickname is the "Cougars", and it participates in the Southwestern Indiana Conference. In the 2008-2009 ISTEP ranking, North Daviess placed 60th in the state.
