Oceana Company
Oceana Company was a Dutch indie rock band comprising Matthijs Herder (vocals/guitar/mellotron), Michiel Ferweda (guitar), Han Schilder (bass guitar) & Robert Koole (drums). Their music is notable for its melancholic and psychedelic overtones, and the use of authentic keyboard instruments, such as a mellotron. Their 2008 debut album 'For The Boatman' was produced by Marcel v/d Vondervoort of Astrosoniq and released by Spacejam Records/Suburban Records Suburban Records is a record label based in the Netherlands. In 1999 Suburban Records, the inhouse label of Suburban Marketing & Distribution was created giving a home to bands like Peter Pan Speedrock, El Guapo Stuntteam, Hermano, Astrosoniq, Mi .... Their song 'Trenchfever' reached number 1 in the Dutch Indiechart in May 2008. In 2009 the band was selected for the Dutch Popronde 2009. Zwolle
Zwolle () is a city and municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of Overijssel and the province's second-largest municipality after Enschede with a population of 130,592 as of 1 December 2021. Zwolle is on the border with Gelderland, which follows the river IJssel, and is located about 50 km north east of Utrecht and 85 km south west of Groningen. Overijssel (, ; nds, Oaveriessel ; german: Oberyssel) is a Provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands located in the eastern part of the country. Mellotron
The Mellotron is an electro-mechanical musical instrument developed in Birmingham, England, in 1963. It is played by pressing its keys, each of which pushes a length of magnetic tape against a capstan, which pulls it across a playback head. As the key is released, the tape is retracted by a spring to its initial position. Different portions of the tape can be played to access different sounds. The Mellotron evolved from the similar Chamberlin, but could be mass-produced more efficiently. The first models were designed for the home and contained a variety of sounds, including automatic accompaniments. Bandleader Eric Robinson and television personality David Nixon helped promote the first instruments, and celebrities such as Princess Margaret were early adopters. Astrosoniq
Astrosoniq (sometimes styled as A5tro5oniq) is a band from Oss, Netherlands. Each of its album covers features hair growing out of skin. Sometimes a woman, sometimes a man, or sometimes a circle of flesh surrounded by hair. Musical style Astrosoniq's musical style is characterized by extremely psychedelic guitar riffs. The result is stoner rock with a space flavor. It integrates sound clips from old movies, ''Wonder Woman'' episodes and other sources. Most continue the themes of fantasy and space. The band cites classic heavy rock artists as their influences, which can be seen in the heavy guitar riffs and drums.
