Suburban Records is a record label based in the Netherlands. In 1999 Suburban Records, the inhouse label of Suburban Marketing & Distribution was created giving a home to bands like Peter Pan Speedrock, El Guapo Stuntteam, Hermano, Astrosoniq, Mina Caputo and the latest signings Shaking Godspeed, Paceshifters and Gingerpig. Suburban's philosophy is to form and maintain a healthy music industry within the Benelux. Suburban is convinced that there has to be a strong platform for non-mainstream musical products in general, and for the popular (Heavy metal music, heavy) Rock music, rock in particular. Kingfisher Sky
Kingfisher Sky is a Dutch progressive metal band from Netherlands, created and led by drummer Ivar de Graaf (formerly of Within Temptation). History The history of Kingfisher Sky started in 2001, after drummer Ivar de Graaf left Within Temptation, to pursue his own musical interests, and founded Jambone, with the idea to cover classic rock bands. The band featured Edo Van Der Kolk on lead guitar and Michiel Parqui on bass guitar. Edo had already known Ivar for fifteen years and the trio had been playing together since high school, experimenting with various styles of music. They found a lead vocalist in the classically trained singer Judith Rijnveld and, when Zelda Weski joined as backing vocalist, the line-up was completed. Peter Pan Speedrock (PPS or PPSR in short) was a Dutch rock band from Eindhoven, Netherlands. Background The band was founded in 1995 by guitarist Peter van Elderen. He was joined by drummer Bart Nederhand and bass player Bob Muileboom in making their first self-titled album. After this album, Muileboom was replaced by Bart Geevers, who would stay to be a permanent member. The trio was known for their honest, no-nonsense rock n' roll songs and had a good reputation when it comes to live shows. They were often joined by guest singer and stage clown 'Dikke Dennis' (Fat Dennis). Peter Pan Speedrock grew to be an established name in the Dutch rock n' roll scene. On 26 November 2016, after 20 years of band history, they ended their career with a farewell concert at the concert venue Effenaar in Eindhoven, with a sold out show. Birth Of Joy
Birth of Joy is a Dutch rock band, founded in 2005 at the Utrecht-based Herman Brood Academy. After many live concerts in the Netherlands, the band was signed by Dutch indie label Suburban Records following a performance at the Zwarte Cross Festival 2011. After further shows at the Rencontres Trans Musicales in France and the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen, supported by Rockpalast, the group became known outside the Netherlands. The band played their (provisional) last concert on 3 January 2019 in Paradiso, Amsterdam, after more than 1300 live performances in the Netherlands, Europe and the US. Hydromatics
The Hydromatics is an American garage rock supergroup formed by Nick Royale, Scott Morgan and Tony Slug as side project to their main bands. History The Hydromatics was formed Nick Royale from The Hellacopters and Tony Slug from Amsterdam punk band The Nitwitz planned to record a series of Sonic's Rendezvous Band coversongs, but the project was long on hold due to the hectic touring schedules of The Hellacopters. However Tony Slug was able to get a hold of Sonic's Rendezvous Band founder Scott Morgan and during the Hellacopters second visit to Detroit Morgan happily accepted the offer to record with Tony and Nick. Hermano (band)
Hermano is an American stoner rock band formed in 1998. History Formed by producer Dandy Brown as a side project in 1998, the original lineup consisted of vocalist John Garcia (Kyuss, Unida, Slo Burn), bassist Dandy Brown, drummer Steve Earle ( Afghan Whigs) and guitarists Mike Callahan (Earshot) and David Angstrom. After passing tapes and CDs amongst each other for six months, the band members entered the studio in early 1999 to begin recording their debut album.
