Russian Youth Movement "Oborona" (russian: Российское молодёжное движение «Оборона»; ''Rossiyskoye molodozhnoye dvizheniye «Oborona»'') ( Russian for "Defense") is a non-partisan civic youth movement in Russia. Its name means "Defense rom in Russian and others. The movement was established in 2005 and has no leader or centralized structure. Instead, it is based on the network principle and mostly horizontal relations. The movement opposes what they call an authoritarian vector of Russian policy. They claim that president Vladimir Putin destroys democracy institutions and aims to establish an authoritarian police state in Russia. The movement espouses nonviolent resistance to the authorities. The Moscow branch of Oborona has several hundred activists. The movement also has branches in 25 Russian cities. The Other Russia (coalition)
The Other Russia (russian: Другая Россия; ''Drugaya Rossiya''), sometimes cited as Another Russia, was an umbrella coalition (2006–2008/2009/2010) that gathered opponents of President Vladimir Putin and was known as an organizer of Dissenters' Marches. The coalition brought together representatives from a wide variety of political and human rights movements, liberals, nationalists, socialists and communists (though the CPRF was absent), as well as individual citizens. The last Dissenters' March took place in 2008. The group included both far left, centre, and far right opposition leaders as well as mainstream liberals such as former world chess champion and United Civil Front leader Garry Kasparov (in 2006–2007), the radical National Bolshevik Party leader Eduard Limonov, and the far-left Vanguard of Red Youth. Viktor Anatolyevich Shenderovich (russian: Ви́ктор Анато́льевич Шендеро́вич; born August 15, 1958) is a Russian satirist, writer, scriptwriter and radio host. Biography Shenderovich was born in Moscow into a family of Belarusian Jewish origin. In 1980, he graduated from the Moscow State Art and Cultural University, specializing in "direction of volunteer theatrical groups". He is best known as a scriptwriter of popular political puppet show ''Puppets'', which was aired on NTV 1994 to 2002. He hosted satirical author program ''Total'' on NTV 1997 to 2001 and TV-6 in 2002. Later, Shenderovich ran a weekly program ''Processed Cheese'' on the Echo of Moscow radio station. The texts of this program's editions were later collected in his book ''Better Two Heads Than One'', implying Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Zubr (political Organization)
Zubr ( be, ЗУБР) was a civic youth organization in Belarusin opposition to President Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The organization drew inspiration from Otpor! student movement (formerly of Yugoslavia) which contributed to the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević in 2000, and from Gene Sharp's writings on nonviolent action. Zubr became noticed internationally in 2005 when US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who was visiting Lithuania, met their leaders, who risked imprisonment upon their return. Some reporters have credited Zubr's leaders with the idea of a 'Denim Revolution', which, they hoped would attract popular support as Ukraine's Orange Revolution and Georgia's Rose Revolution. Pora!
